You are getting an alignment and then new tires. Sounds like you are putting the cart before the horse.

Whatever floats your boat. I always do it tires then alignment. Not sure what the advantage of aligning everything and then changing something so the alignment may or may not be accurate anymore.

I think it would only possibly be a problem if the tires he was installing were used. If new tires then alignment before should be fine or at the time of new tire installation would be ideal.

Like I said. Makes no difference to me. Guess it just always get new tires from a place that give you free alignment with 4 new tire.

That is the tire I would have gone with on mine but I could not find them anywhere at the time I needed tires. They do get good initial testing reviews and had some cool testing videos prior to releasing the tire.
As a side note, I would put the tires on then get the alignment, but that is just my 2 cents.

Yeah, the reviews seem to suggest that they are good all-around tires, especially for those of us who use our 'runners as daily drivers. If I get them I will update this thread after break-in.

It really comes into play, if you changing the width of the rim and I'm not. The machine compensates for the tires. Hence the floating plate on the alignment machine. Most places will take the rear tires and move them to the front to have it sit flat. I changed rear springs and shocks, I also did quick struts so, that changed it with the new ride height. That's the only reason I'm having it done. Top of the tires tilt outward. It was fine before and wore the tires perfect. Besides, I'll probably have my tires on before my appointment anyways.

I get my tires from a friends tire shop for cost and do the work myself. He doesn't have a alignment machine. I get alignments for $28 bucks at another place. :thumb3:

Hello marmotan. I installed the new A/T 3's (265/70 R16) about a month ago and I LOVE these tires!!! Super sticky, super quiet! On top of that they have an aggressive tread/sidewall design. I have heard mixed reviews on the tread life, but I plan on properly rotating and we'll see! Got mine installed $659 out the door. Mounted then white letters in, and static mount.

You can see in the tread pic the little grooves on the side of the individual tread blocks. According to the shop I purchased these from, they prevent stones from becoming lodged. Also protects against tread chunking when traversing sharp stones. Can't speak as to the latter, but at a State Park a week ago I was on a stone road for a mile or two and caught zero stones in my tires that did not become dislodged by around 45mph.

Probably not LT tires then? Discounttire has the LT265/75R16 E load range size for $195 each. That's the same price as BFG A/T KO's or Goodyear DuraTracs. If they are as good tires as those, that would be great.

I know there were two types, one for heavy duty (for towing or use on dually's etc.), and regular. I just got the base model (marmotan I would then assume 4 ply?). That said, the sidewall does not seem spongy(best adjective I could think of for that ballooning out effect you see on some larger tires) on the road, but without a comparison other than the dry-rotted Michelins that were on it when I bought the 4Runner, I don't have that much to go on.

99Lim. Lookin good! I like the custom job! Be careful mounting the new wheels so the tire machine doesn't scratch the fresh paint!
