Anyone Solve the Wheel bounce Issue permanently? If yes, please tell

Had this issue on all three of my 4 Runners. 55MPH-60MPH minor wheel bounce. Michelins or KO2's still the same. Road Force elite balance, etc. Bounce comes and goes regardless. Not bad, but its there.

Design issue with Front suspension?

Hub Centric Wheels?

Steering Rack?

Has anyone solved this removing the bounce? If yes? How.

That would be funny if that's all is needed. Do a search on the forum and you will see this is a continuous issue for most 5th Gen Owners. Not the response expected from a senior member with 2000+ posts.

Thanks for the suggestion--the tires are balanced ------ that's what Road Force Elite does, etc.
 
You know now that I think about it I think I have this issue as well. I think it is more pronounced on certain freeways, probably how it is paved or whatever interval the slab sizes are. It feels like the wheels are unbalanced. If you drive on a smooth paved highway no problems.
 
I have a TRD Pro and it is more noticeable after I put in the wheel spacers. To me, it is a hub centric issue. The wheel and hub has very little play. There are no hub ring that are small enough to fill that gap. So I bought a thin roll of foil tape to put it on the wheel before installing it back on. The vibration is almost gone. I am thinking of putting it between the wheel spacer and the hub to see if that would totally Eliminate it. Just need to find time to do it now. I Forgot to take picture when I was putting the tape on. I will do it next time when I put it on the rear wheel.

I've gone 20k without a single bounce.

Do you mean if you cruise at that speed you have constant wheel bounce until you vary your speed? One tire, all four? What are you experiencing?
 
I’m not sure what you mean either. When I think of “wheel bounce” I think of a car with worn out shocks literally bouncing it’s wheels down the hwy. i love the ride in my truck but I can still remember a certain stretch of fwy at certain speed when my AT tires were over 30k miles old that the truck shook and the steering wheel shimmied. If I had that all the time I would not be happy.
The op doesn’t have a signature so I have no idea where to start with his problem, but back to stock is usually the first step.

Shimmy is correct. Comes and goes at 55-60MPH. Solid set-up. Did this from day 1 on both my 14 and 17 runners that were new. The 05 purchased 2nd hand, rebuild most of suspension and it did this as well. The O5/14 had Michelins. The 17 TRDP has KO2's

Those wheels and tires are challenging 5o balance, they just didn't do a good job. Take them back

Most of the complaints here are people running spacers and other shit then wondering why they have issues, it's common for people here to need to go back 2 or 3 times to get their tires balanced correctly. Just because a tire monkey used a road force machine doesn't mean they got it right.

Sounds painful.

I have owned three 4runners.
An 87 that had 212K miles on it when I traded it in on a 99 4runner. (wish I still had it)

My 99 T4R currently has 181K miles in it. (Still own it)
My 2011 now has about 98K on it.
Not a single "wheel" bounce on any of them.


Occasional shimmy when getting to speed, sure. That happens with every car I've ever driven, Bounce? No.

I think if it was a "continuous issue for most 5th Gen Owners" there would be no 5th Gen owners.
 
Is it the same as 'wandering'?

I get this (steering shimmy) from time to time when going over a rough surface, stock and after the lift/wheel/tire.
 
I know what problem you are talking about. I had this issue when it was stock. Added bigger tires, aftermarket wheels, lift kit and still have balancing issues. 295's and low offset wheels aren't easy to do but as long as I rotate around every 3k things feel smooth even for what it is.
 
I blew a leak in my FR oem shock at about 80k and it still drove very well for another 1000 miles.

This. I posted my experience in one of the other threads that is already up and running on this topic. I had 275/70/17 K02s installed by Discount Tire on my new '18 TRD OR and then had them 'rebalance' them a few weeks later due to this problem. It was only after I told them I wanted to exchange them that they road force balanced them 'correctly'. It is perfect now. Balance your tires.
 
I'm convinced it's a tire/wheel issue. I had it with winter tires & FN wheels that could not be fixed. Now back to stock trail wheels and duelers and its smooth as glass again.

I've read a lot of these posts as well and sure there are variables galore but for me it was the tire pressures that caused it all of a sudden. I've only got 10k (kilometres) on it but the Duellers have been smooth since day 1 until recently I figured I might try putting another 5 psi in each tire (partially to improve the dismal fuel economy)

First run on the highway the shimmy / shake was going on exactly as described here, not bad mind you but surely enough to feel it in the wheel. Went back down 5 psi and issue gone. Strange, 5 psi shouldn't do that I would think, didn't feel anything from the back end only the front.
