Anyone tried 1st gen Tacoma TRD front coils on 3rd gen 4runners?

I know...another lift question. I tried to search but got nothing so I'm asking.

Anyone tried to used the 1st gen Taco TRD front coils ('00-'06) on our 3rd gen 4Runners?

I can get some for a good price. The Taco TRD front coils are 15" long and the Tundra TRD coils are 14 3/4" from what I gathered. The Taco's have 10.5 wraps but the Tundra's are 9.5.

I'm going to pair with 4Runner adjustable BS 5100.

1st gen Tacomas were produced from 1995.5 - 2004. Be sure of what you are getting.

I have 1st gen Tacoma Billies (three spring perch settings, set at middle perch) along with 99 tall springs. About 1-1/2" lift. No front diff drop and my axles are at a nice angle. I'm guessing a true 1st gen Tacoma TRD front spring would net you about the same depending on your perch setting.

I misspoke..you're right the 1st gen Taco's are from 95-04.

I have my BS set on the 3rd highest of the 4 perches with stock '97 coils and it's about 1.5"

1st gen Tacomas were produced from 1995.5 - 2004. Be sure of what you are getting.

Not only that, but lots of spring choices (4 cylinder vs v6, Prerunner vs 4WD, cab options, etc.). Similar to the Tundras - make sure you get springs meant for a 'heavier' version if you are expecting a lift from them.

Yes. I have them. I like them BUT please read.

My springs are from a 2003-04 Tacoma extended cab (not the 4 door) 4x4 with the offroad package, V6 and automatic on 16 inch tires. They are the progressive springs. The 4 door Tacoma has a heavier spring, thicker wire which I have not used.

These will net you less lift than the 99 Tall 4runner springs. About an inch less on my 3rz equipped 4runner. Here's how I know...

I had 99 talls in my 4runner. I find they are too tall and too stiff for a light 3rz equipped car. (3rz, manual, no AC, no cruise, no added weight) So I swapped in the Taco springs and now sit 3/4 to 1 inch lower and have a much more forgiving front end. Same shocks, did not change these.

So, it is my opinion and it is just an opinion that anyone with a V6 will likely not like these springs much. I do like them myself for my application. My front sits 1/2 inch lower than my rear 2906s when empty. Dead level when loaded for travel. I'm pretty happy with the stance. The 99 talls made me too tall in the front all the time.

Thanks for the details, good to know. Wish I could get some 99 tall's but they don't show up much here and if they do it's more than I want to spend.

I don't suppose you had chance to measure you coils before you put them on?
