Anyone use a Motorcycle Carrier with their T4R?

Hey everybody, I have a 1997 SR5 4x4 3.4L with a 5 spd. I was looking to buy a hitch carrier to carry 2 of my motocross bikes weighing about 250 lbs. each plus the carrier weighing about 70 lbs. I have the stock trailer hitch which i believe is a class 3. Does anyone think my truck will have any problems carrying this? Will I have to change anything in the rear suspension?

Your stock suspension will hate you for it! The stock rear springs can't even support the weight of the vehicle adequately, so that carrier would make your ride and handling very dangerous. I think that air lift springs might work, but I don't feel that the 1,000 lb. capacity rating is accurate. The air springs are cheap and worth a shot imo. If it's going to be a regular thing, you should consider a full suspension upgrade.

If I were you id invest in a small trailer. I have the same truck as you and I use a moto carrier to haul my 06 250r. The ride is really rough and you definitely notice its there at higher speed. It does ok, but I think 2 bikes would be unsafe.

I actually used a motorcycle carrier, hauled my 2000 kdx220 around on it. I can't imagine hauling 2 bikes on it though, one was bad enough, really made the back end sag quite a bit with just the one bike. I ended up selling it for the price I paid for it and then bought a small 5x8 trailer to pull the bike on.
