this is what I was taught. example taken from c&d

.

Let me know how that works out when you are backing up with a stump on one side and a ravine on the other lol. Those little mirrors are great for other things besides traffic. The method you posted is the way mine are always adjusted though with the added side and downward vision a convex mirror can give you.

Get the Godamn purse off your wrist and learn to use your mirrors for Christ's sake....if that ain't working for ya'...got yourself a Honda Accord that all kinds of buzzers and warning whistles when a vehicle is next to you.

works great since I don't do that :)

and if I did, I would have a spotter, since I would have no clue why I was in such a situation or what I should do. :)

In the immortal words of Ferrari driver Franco (Raul Julia) in the movie The Gumball Rally, "What'sa behind me does not matter!".

Otherwise I use the NoDak method.

Let me know how those little mirrors work when you're sliding backwards on ice down a hill with trees on either side :D

I've actually been in situations similar to the stump on one side and ravine on the other. All I do is adjust my side mirrors to point downwards enough to see the ground behind me.

Is this comment tongue and cheek or are you just being a misogynist prick? I mean, I always knew certain of the locals in NY were prickish, but I didn't know their heads were completely up their a**. This person asks a legitimate question and you go out of your way to spew this crap. Unbelievable.

Yeah, me too! For two bucks (total!) you ought to try a few. Come right off with fishing line if you don't like them. Cool part is they give you a wide angle so you can see lots of area beside your truck at low speed. Cheapest fisheye lens you can buy!

You must be new.

I've tried the blind spot mirrors and didn't like them - I can't actually see anything in them, and they take up space on the mirror I can see stuff in. I adjust my mirrors much like NoDak and turn my head to look before I change lanes, and hey, no blind spot.

get back in your corner and color :bash:

Agree with NoDak and 1engineer. Mirrors, imo, should be setup according to the image posted by NoDak. The mirrors 1engineer posted "can" be used to supplement that, not replace.

Nothing more ridiculous then seeing side mirrors where the driver can practically see themselves, and then using "blind spot" mirrors to actually see.
