Anyone Use The Extended Warranty

Just wondering if anyone has had to use their extended purchased warranty?

I've used mine to fix a door lock issue...the lock actuator on the driver's side back door broke shortly after I bought the truck. I think that's all I've used it for so far, though I show them the paperwork every time I bring the truck in for any maintenance/service. The dealer always approaches the paperwork with a healthy dose of skepticism...like I'm trying to pull one over on them...kinda irritating.

Used it 1 day after I got my rig. The rear mag was very scuffed. Warranty coverd refinished and polishing. I'm noticing that my driver window seems to "jump" around when it's partly open. I might have them take a look at it before the warranty expires.

BTW: no problem using the warranty.

My Toyota Platinum Extended Warranty has paid for itself and then some.
That was partly due to the great price I got on it from a dealer who posted on this site several years ago offering it to members here. Then again my 4Runner has had a few repairs done under the warranty as well.

Repairs under the warranty so far have been:

- Replaced Park/Neutral POS Switch Assembly (ie shifter mechanism)
- Repaired the CD in the Radio
- Front Driver Side Brake Caliper (Frozen)

With any luck one or more of the other original calipers will Freeze up before the warranty expires at the end of this year.

The Platinum Extended Warranty covers frozen calipers? Good to know!

Never had to use it, not sure if that's good or bad? I feel like it was a wast of money

I haven't gotten a chance to use my extended warranty yet, waiting till the truck hits about 90~95k (bought my '04 with 86k on it). The salesman was trying so hard to make the sale on that warranty he gave me no deductible on a 3yr/36k extended warranty!

Frozen calipers and leaking CV boots. I had the boots done at 99,9xx miles. haha

I had to use it for my A/C. The truck was blowing hot air and it took them three times to figure out what happened. I did not have to pay a penny and got a rental car while this was going on!

I used mine when I had my timing belt replaced. They called and said the water pump was showing signs of leaking. I told them to replace it. Then called back an hour later to ask if it was covered under the platinum extended I had. Win.

Used it to replace the passenger window motor. That alone covered the cost. They did refuse to replace my X-REAS shocks that leaked at 60k. They also wouldn't replace the rear window felt/cleaner that broke off.

I had to use mine to replace a door lock on my 2008 in January. Cost me $350 to replace the same lock on my 04 in 2006 when it was only 3000 miles out of the 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty.

I am super glad I got the extended warranty on my truck (I paid too much for it at the time though...urgh, the perils of not reading this website first

It got me: new brake pads, turned rotors, new master cylinder system, and a couple other things. The master cylinder replacement alone paid for the warranty a couple times over.
