I was thinking about getting oil changed before a trip but realized that I don't have an Amsoil filter nor enough Amsoil 0W-20 on hand. So I decided to go get the new M1 Extended Performance filter and their Annual 0W-20 oil.
The filter is supposed to be be very good but once I opened the box I was somewhat disappointed. The M1 filter cartridge has no gaskets on both sides of the filter's ID opening. It's just hard plastic. I'm concerned it will not provide sufficient seal and some dirty oil will bypass the filter.
The OEM filter has no gasket either but there is a gummy ring around the opening. Amsoil filter element has nice thick rubber gaskets (look like o-rings).
Now I'm trying to decide whether the M1 filter is good enough for the engine?
Any opinions or advice? have you used an M1 EP filter? What do you think?
