Anyone using the Smittybilt XL tent?

I’m thinking about getting one. For those who have it, how much of the roof does it take up? If you have a full rack, can you still fit some more things up there?

I have had one for about 20 months now on top of my 100 series. It takes up the vast majority of my 8' rack, leaving not quite 2' for luggage etc. It's big and it's too big to mount sideways (> 6' wide). But...once it's opened up and you pile a bunch of people in it, its sweet!

Hoping to sleep 4 Actual adults. How realistic is that?

I was on a thread about this a while ago, the issue was the weight. 4 adults could weigh anywhere from 400-800 lbs. With our 2 teenagers the total weight would be 550lbs and that was considered too much weight on the roof by someone else on the thread.

So in my case my Bajarack can hold 600lbs static, the weight of the tent and 4 of us is too much, so depends on what your tent sits on and weight of adults.

I have one, however it is on my trailer. My roofrack is completely clear . Love the tent hate the mattress. Just upgraded to the tepui luxury, which is the same size. It is a lot better.

We had the standard tent for a bit, but traded it for the XL.

The standard RTT has a bit of extra rack space up there, enough for a small tote, but we wanted more room inside for us and the dogs. The XL takes up all of the rack, it allows just enough space that I can slip something low profile underneath the tent, but definitely not a tote or anything. I'd say 3 would fit comfortably, 4 would fit fine if you like each other.

I've had the Smittybilt XL for a few years and love it. The awning that comes over the front door annoyed me, so I did trim that off.

There's tons of room inside.
Not much storage on the rack with the tent on.
I have the Prinsu full rack and have the tent pushed all the way forward. If I pulled it back anymore it'll block the XM antenna.

But overall great tent, you won't regret it. [emoji108]

Hey guys I was wondering if this rack would work with the XL Overlander tent? It's a BajaRack long rack for 5th Gen.
