I agree; I clay bar and polish once a year and wax twice a year.

I wax my car at least somewhere between 1-3 months so about 4-6X a year. It was easy to clean due to wax build up. If I noticed any swirl or scratch I just use my PC7424XP with M105/205 and the scratch/swirls are gone forever.

I agree when talking about a 4runner. All wax does is give a bit more depth and gloss to the paint than a sealant does. Sealing every 3-5 months makes sense and I consider it totally necessary (durability depends on the product you choose and how well you prep).

If you seal and keep your car washed every week or two, then waxing is not the 3 hr ordeal people think. I even think a good spray wax over a sealed truck looks fantastic...... And that only takes an extra 10 minutes after washing and drying.

Polish once or twice a year, and use sealant 2-3 times. Wax is optional but helps the sealant last a bit lomger.

I use "menzerma Polylock polymer sealant" very easy to apply and wipe off and seems to last me about 4-5 months it the blistering heat of the southwest. you cant find it at pep boys or autozone. autogeek.org has some wonderful how-toos on everything involved in keeping your car beautiful and it is also where I purchase most of my detailing arsenal. There is A LOT of information but it is all useful.

I started off just wanting to keep my 4runner clean and soon after i did my first detail on it people started asking me where i had it done...needless to say a few extra hundos in the pocket a month sure do come in handy.

Klaase 'All in One' and Klaase 'Sealant Glaze'.

Google em. I just use the all in one. Seems to work very nicely.

I recommend Collinite 845 Insulator wax which is truly a sealant. This is what I use with great success.

I also hear fantastic things about Blackfire Wet Diamond. The others recommended above are great also but they cost about $30 a bottle as does BWD.

Collinite is about $15 and has the best durability of all of them.

All are pretty easy to apply by hand, which I prefer when applying sealant or wax.

I'm a pretty big fan of Meguiar's stuff personally since they're easy to find and work real good for the price. I normally wash my 4Runner every week and it's really improved the shine in the paint. The 15 year old paint on mine is not in the best condition and I'll probably get it repainted one day (when I get the $$$). For now though I'm washing it with their deep crystal wash and going to try their new compound and their NXT wax.

My son uses NXT on his Pathfinder. Durability is not up to par as Collinite. Collinite can be found at We Are Car Care -- Car Wax, Car Polish, Auto Detailing Supplies, Car Buffers & Car Accessories Store for fairly cheap.

Whatever you use, make sure you put it on thin. Then if you want, do a second later a week later.

I've used JetSeal 109 on my bikes for years and I plan using it on the new 4 runner. It's not cheap but it's excellent stuff!

Wax and sealant

Which one??? There are many and always leads to many disagreements. For wax, I like P21S and for sealant I like Klasse but that's me. Find one that looks good to you and is easy to apply. Less detail time...more driving!
