anyone with a thule cargo carrier

what model cargo carrier you have.. i have looked at many at stores and alot have not fitted my racks they do but i cannot open my hatch.. i have a 02 and im lookin for one that could hold about 3 or 4 snowboards..

i haven't bought one yet but looking as well and a good one was the Thule Ascent 1100 and is only 12 inches tall, if you are just carrying boards. But you probably have already seen the Thule and Yakima kinds... so I thought another cool one was the Inno cargo box. I'd love to know what you bought if you've already bought it and how it works out in garages or covered parking lots, volume for your purpose, change in MPG. Anyone else have any suggestions or experiences on cargo boxes?

yeah thats the thing with cargo box you cant open the trunk. unless you modify it a bit or you can use a yakima or thule rack & bar to move it up forward more. if you just carrying board & skis use the regular carriers.

Thule also make a rear hitch box called the Transporter that swing out if you need extra space.

i am using Thule flat top 6 & the 575 side carriers. my little brother is using Yakima powerhound and they look just as good.


Clearance - you will make parking garage if your truck isnt lifted. with a lift you prolly wont fit into your house parking garage. Public garage are around 7' or higher.

Meassure your ride hieght so you know what you fit and dont.

you can open ur trunk with the yakima skyboxes..as long as the box has the claps that can move up and down it will fit..i am looking to get the thule ascent 1700..but im still deciding on what to get..maybe the yakima skybox 18....i want to get a ski rack but i bought the thule 91735 snowboard carrier and i did not have enough clearence for my bindings to carrie 4 snowboards..but the yakima powderhound has a lift you can get that will raise only one side of the rack so i could only fit 3 boards which sucks because i need to fit 4...so i got to get a box which sucks because i dont want to spend 400$ on one
