Anyone's keyless entry just stop working randomly?

Actually yeah, this happened to me last week. It was pretty cold out, 20 degree F, it didn't work and no little red light on the remote. I just assumed it was the battery in remote, but I replaced it 6 months ago. I just figured it died, so I started researching replacements on here and ebay. A couple of days later my son was playing with the remote and the red light started working again.
Not sure if it was temperature related. But it works just fine now.
Doesn't seem like it should get that cold in the South.

+1 on what the Durk suggested. I have had to do this with other remotes to get them to work.
Johnny, you still have that rear glass for sale, or is that someone else (was looking through the Chas CL ads)? I may know someone who could use it.

Mine seems to do this every few weeks and now that you guys mention it, seems like the cold may have something to do with it. The key fob will just quit working and then I wait 10 minutes or so and it works again... I've tried replacing my batteries in the remote and it's a temporary fix for me, always ends up not working for a brief period of time at some point...

we live in goose creek ... i drive my trusty 1990 mitsubishi mighty max ... it's an old beater, but it gets me back and forth to work ... and the a/c even works .... the 2000 2wd 4runner is our "nice" car - my wife and i love it!
i can't decide between getting a tacoma w/ a 3.4 to replace my mitsubishi, or another 3rd gen runner, or saving longer for a 4th gen runner for my wife ... which would pass the 3rd gen down to me

Johnny, I'll let ya know (send ya a PM) if my buddy's younger brother still has his 4runner (the loose handle screw made a permanent scratch in his glass).
All those parts are from a guy in GC whose first engine died after coolant got in the oil. He swapped out his old engine with a newer one and his 98 is running smoothly now. He seems to be a nice guy. 4 4runners in the family. The write up is on YT.
I still want to know who picked up that Supercharger for $800 on the Chas CL a year or two ago.

I KNOW! ... I still think about that too - wishing I would've gone for it! seems like he got down to $700ea for the supercharger and engine before I quit seeing it ...

so i just read some interesting info on YOTAtech.
It seems that the ECU for the wireless entry and rear door functions are in the rear door - if youve ever opened it up its the orange electrical box I believe. Luckily I saved my old one. Im thinking this may be my problem. I just cant remember when it actually stopped working. . . whether it was right when I replaced the door or before. kinda sad seeing as how I replaced the rear hatch only last saturday. haha
guess I had crushed too many busch lights that day. . .

You are saying you changed the box with the hatch? Maybe you just need to re-sync your remotes to the receiver, or, more precisely, sync your old remotes to your new receiver. There are how-to's on doing that.

yep, just found the instructions. sounds like that rear ecu kinda controls the radio signal for the keyless entry somehow. im going to try and reprogram here in a few minutes

Okay quick question kind of on same topic. I just picked up my first T4R but it didn't come with the remote. The guy just had a single key to give me but I see it has the security light that turns on and off each time I lock and unlock the truck. My question is, whats the best way to pick up a remote and then have it programed to my truck??

Maybe someone can chime in on how to verify that you have the factory keyless entry - if so, I got my remote from Keyless-Remotes | Keyless Entry Car Remotes and Key FOBs
... it was about $40 if i remember correctly ... the instructions for programming it are under a sticky:
