I am starting to find this very annoying. And yes, I do wear my seatbelt but for instance, I usually take off my belt (force of habit) when pulling into a parking lot then the alarm goes off and i have to fumble to get it back on. Or if i take a quick ride up the street to the store I generally wouldn't buckle up but now i have to. So, safety reasons aside, anyway to disable this? I checked the manual and i can't find anything. My friends ford F150 manual has the instructions in there to disable hers which i thought was pretty neat haha
Anyway to disable the seatbelt chime?

Maybe Ford let's you disable this feature because they are found on the road dead more often then alive and so there is no consequence in disabling the seat belt chime if your Ford is rarely in motion:biggrin2:

From the first time we drove our 4Runner our seat belts have never chimed at us. When we were purchasing it we asked if they could turn off the pass. seat belt chime. They did and also turned off the drivers side. Said any other changes to electronic gizmos were free as long as it was before the first service (5000 miles). Look in the owners manual at personalizing the vehicle, lists all kinds of things that can be changed. Like the stupid doors automatically locking (turned that off too).
These instructions apply to 2009+ Tacoma as well. I'd be surprised if the 4Runner is different.
In step 6 you have to keep holding the odometer button while you fasten the seat belt. Don't let go of the button until step 7. Toyota's instructions for this sort of thing are very literal - you must follow them exactly. When step 6 says wait 10 seconds, use a clock to measure at least 10 seconds. In that step, more time is OK - it can be 12 seconds, 15 seconds, etc.

I would also like to know. I have the intelligent key that comes with the Limited. There is no "on" position, as detailed in the instructions.

If that chime really annoys you (it pretty much warns you), hope that you won't regret it when someone t-bones you or sumthin' while you're doing your quick ride up the street or similar. Anywayz, find the little chime speaker and cut the wires behind it.

If you can't find the fix and don't want to cut wires, I have a friend years back who just went to the junkyard and cut the male part,it's called the tongue connector, off a junk car. He just left it snapped in the buckle all the time for a easy $5 fix.Most likely all newer Toyota seat belts are the same.

A point is being missed here. I ride with my seatbelt on 99% of the time. The other 1% (backing the car out of the garage, parking gargages, camping, etc) I don't want that bell chiming. It's super annoying too, because it goes off even when the passenger has his/her's off.
I've never had a car with an invasive audible reminder like this. I'm a grown adult, and I can remember to buckle my seat belt without being reminded by a horrible chime.
holy crap, what are you 14..15 maybe? thats the worst advice i've ever heard, sorry. why would I go and cut wires in my brand new vehicle.. it's an annoying alarm, and since i pay for it i should be able to disableit.. i'm a big boy, i know when to wear my belt and when it's not necessary.
hey, next time you're in an airplane and get up to go piss.. and the plane crashes, you gonna regret unbuckling and going to take that piss?
