ARB air locker, are they any good??

Oo i thought it was 10 years and went to 5 years, my bad, but even better, thanks a lot for the info, back to searching for a used one

I have a complete clamshell (front diff) with 5.29 gears and ARB air locker setup by East Coast Gear Supply sitting in my garage for sale if your interested PM me. Only had about 5 trail runs on it before I solid axle swapped so it's still basically new.

ARB is the industry leader for selectable traction devices.
The locker won't be the part that breaks.

This is pretty much true. You would have no regrets with an ARB. Being selectable actually helps other parts last. You only use it when you need it.

I'm from Alberta also, Edmonton to be exact, and have my 4Runner dual locked. From the wheeling I've been doing as of late, I can say that the front locker sees little use compared to the rear locker. In the deep deep snow, breaking trail or chasing tracks of larger vehicles with larger tires, it helps to have it on. On long hill climbs where wheel spin is necessary (Vega has a few of these for reference), I keep it off as I actually do worse with it on as it causes axle hop and that upsets the trucks momentum enough to stop it from climbing. On hills where you can crawl up with minimal slippage and throttle, it works great, though so does just the rear being locked. It's also not the unlimited traction aid I hoped it would be, I've been stuck with 4 wheels spinning a few times now. I got mine installed when I regeared, as I had the money to do so and figured that while I was in there I may as well. I'll also echo others in saying that it is mostly used as last resort.

Like stated above, usually the people who buy them, or even front lockers in general, are looking to achieve something. That something is harder wheeling. Harder wheeling = more wear and tear. I wouldn't buy one if you don't really need one. Eventually, when you get ballsy enough, you'll find yourself doing stupid stuff and you'll pay the price. Don't ask me how I know.

:llama:

Them meaning a rear locker?

DO you have a factory E-locker in the rear or ARB?
