This thing is AWESOME. Super easy setup and stable in the wind.

Very nice! We could definately use something like this with all the rain we get in the PNW and sports we attend with our kids.

Where did you purchase it? TIA!

Bought it from Sierra Expeditions, and mounted it using the Bajarack awning brackets on my full-length Bajarack. Other folks have made their own brackets to mount awnings to factory racks so it is doable.

That is way awesome! Those pics from Assateague? That's where we'll be going this weekend.

Did you get your stuff fixed from the break-in yet?

Length is 2500mm I think. I was at the Outer Banks in NC the past couple of days and installed the awning right before leaving.

As far as the break in, my window is replaced, but the seat and door scratches still have to be fixed. Going in on Wednesday to meet the ins adjuster. Also going to have an alarm with pager function and motion sensors installed (viper 5902).

Thoughts on ARB

BUMP....This thread seems pretty inactive, but rather than start a new one...
Joneseyyy - Still enjoying the awning? I am thinking of getting one myself just wondering if you have any thoughts on it now that you have had it for a while. Based on your experience would it mount onto a stock trail rack? I spoke with an ARB rep today and he figured that it would with some experimentation. Is it pretty secure when you are on the move? Any thoughts would help. Thanks

Funny you guys should bring this back up. I am still enjoying the awning, and it has held up great over the past 8 months with it on the truck continuously.

The only issue I've had is in wet weather a time or two one of the twist lock legs would not "lock out". I called up ARB and they sent a replacement no questions asked.

With all that said, I am taking a hard look at upgrading the awning to a howling moon aluminum hardshell awning with a canvas wall set. The HM is supposed to be overall a higher quality piece (the price reflects that), and I like the awning being encased in an aluminum case as opposed to a PVC bag. The canvas side walls convert it to a nice shelter in the event of wind+rain, or sun coming in at an angle. May seem frivolous, but I am really particular about my gear.

I think you'll have a hard time mounting to the factory roof rack. I'd strongly recommend checking out Bajarack, which will easily accept awnings with the brackets they sell (I use them and they are rock solid). Plus you'll have a much more versatile and usable roof rack.

Have you looked at the Rhino Rack Foxwing? It swings out 270 deg and has an available extension for the added protection. They sell them on Autoanything.com. For me I am thinking of starting with the ARB for the simplicity, and if I find that I need more out of an awning upgrading later. Do you have a pic of the awning rolled up and mounted? Just curious how it looks when not i use. I am dealing with the stock trail rack for now so I can't really get carried away. Plus prices for this stuff in Canada are pretty crazy:gun5:

Will this work on the Baja utility rack? After our lunch out at the lake today, I would have really liked to have had this.

I believe Bajarack also makes mounts for the flat rack. I think TRDparts4u sells them, and the awning as well.

Everyone that sees the awning in action thinks it is the coolest thing ever, still quite happy with it.

Cool pics. Thanks for sharing them.

May I ask, from start to finish how long does it take to set up? How long does it take to close up? I've had a few similar type awnings on campers over the years. A couple went up and came down quickly and easily. The third was a considerable pain in the arse to close up.

It works perfectly with the utility with those mounts you found. I installed one about three weeks ago and had zero issues with the utility rack setup.
