Arb bumper mod

So i was going to get my arb bumper bolted up to my frame end caps on my 2001 runner. I do not have a winch and probably wont get one. If i didnt get the end cap mod done and i get stuck some where are the tow hooks suffcient enough to pull me out of a situation?

Also if i have to jack up the front and the end caps r not bolted does it damage anything?

so you are wondering if you can mount your arb bumper with out boxing in the end caps on the frame rails? is this your question?

I think he's just asking if his stock frame caps are strong enough to support the bumper and an occasional pull from a tow strap. And yes, it is plenty strong, I ran my ARB on my stock frame caps with the winch and many pulls for over a year before I modded mine. Never had a problem.

yes it can be done, is it recommended, no. while your their just have someone(shop if have be) weld it up for you. even if it has to go to a shop, they should charge no more than $50 to weld a cap on the end of that.

I would say as long as you are putting it on just do it all at once, a pain to take it off and put it on again. I just welded the brackets on. I am not sure if you ran into this but I had to cut down the frame rails more then previous models because ARB changed the bracket slightly, so i said forget the end cap, weld it!

Tow hooks

Actually my question was are the tow hooks sufficient for winching on if i get stuck, cuz my bumper is not hooked up with all the proper bolts.

I guess I am confused, what do you mean by not hooked up with the proper bolts?

as far as I saw the end cap was not a "install instruction" item, just a highly recommended, I very well could be wrong though.

Your tow hook bolts help hold on the bumper. Just make sure you at least retain these bolts. Why wouldn't you want to run all the bolts, that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen to me. But yes, when the bumper is installed and the hooks are back on, they will hold the weight of the truck for winching or pulling, that's what they are designed for. just make sure you tighten them really well and keep checking them periodically to make sure they are tight. Mine like to loosen up after awhile, even with lock washers.

My 2cents..Do it right the first time instead of having it become a pain in your arse on a trail or when you need it.
