Arb diff breather

I want to get a differential breather for safety. I've been eyeing the arb diff breather. And I'm curious if anyone has one and where they have the breathers sitting and the benefits of arb breather vs others.

Safety from what? The rear axle already has a breather.

I'm not sure the ARB breather is necessary. I know my 4Runner has breathers for front dif and TC located by driver side wheel well. the only one really needing to be fiddled with is the rear dif and there are write ups on how to do that super cheap. just an FYI.

In my opinion the ARB looks way cool, but is needlessly elaborate and expensive.
For about $17 (or less) in parts, you can extend the original one-way breather, or add the two way that matched the tip piece for the front one.
Just search here for breather extension or the like.

The ARB one just seems a bit overpriced for what it is. You can get the parts for about $15 to do it yourself. About $3 for the new style breather, $6 for the union fitting for the axle housing, and $5 for 5' of some 3/8" ID fuel hose and clamps.

I too have been thinking of swapping my rear diff breather for the arb. It does seem needlessly expensive. Does anyone already have one of these? If so, what benefits do you receive from it over a "home-remedy" style?

It seems like the advantage is it prevents water being sucked in because it uses an air filter instead of a one way valve. we could just use air filters instead of one way breathers.

I don't think it's expensive. I noticed through images that people put it in the engine bay

Move your stock breather and you have the exact same result.

I tried to find without success technical reasons to go with ARB breather instead of only relocating stock breathers with fuel lines. I know it look more professional and cool, but as an engineer I mostly base my decisions on technical reasons. I don't know if [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] can comment on this subject?

No technical reason.

Wheeling and going through water or being stuck in water.

You can make a rear extended breather from parts at Lowes, Amazon or Home Depot.
I'm doing it next weekend. The fronts should be fine unless they're clogged.
