I picked one of these bad boys up during my black Friday spendathon. I wanted on board air for tires and I wanted to also get me closer to an ARB rear locker. I hope to pickup a locker down the road but want to get this mounted up for airing back up. I have researched and read what I could find concerning mounting locations.
It looks like my 2002 might offer enough room in the engine bay on the passenger side. .. perhaps... But, I have I have also seen a few people mount them in the rear cargo area, either on the driver's side wheel well or even in the rear hidden storage compartment.
Initially, the inside option sounds preferable to me. However, this also sounds like the biggest PITA due to routing both power and air lines. I imagine I would have to fabricate some sort of mount for the rear cargo option no matter where it goes in that area. I also know the can get hot and should have area for them to breathe.
The engine bay option, providing it fits seems the most direct overall but offers a slightly dirtier home. I am also trying to think of this in terms of adding the ARB air locker down the line.
Thoughts?
