arb install help

I need some help here. I know theres a few threads on this already, but all of them are very vague to me and don't show good detail. I am trying to install my arb bumper #3423020 the tacoma one. Now I know i need to cut off the plates right on the horns of the bumper, but other than that what needs to be done to get the impact absorbers on a 2002? does anything need to be welded? or is it just bolts? an if so do you need to drill the holes for these bolts? Any pictures or help would be great everyone.

I don't have an 02 but a 96. From what I know about ARBs is that all you need is a grinder or cut off wheel, a set of metric sockets, a drill, and possibly a welder.. You're going to use the grinder or cutoff wheel to cut the large plate on the end of your frame down until its flush with the frame. It is recommended to weld over that when flush but don't know that it is imperative you do so....I didn't. You will also need to drill two holes on the bottom of the frame. Placing the ARB bracket on your frame will identify the spot to be drilled. Everything else just bolts together as far as I remember.

Alright, so you didn't weld anything? That was my biggest concern, I can't really weld, nor do I own a welder. If its just cutting off the plate I should be fine. Thanks for the help!!!!

Yeah I saw that link when looking for install help. The only part I have questions about is the only part there were no pics or advice on. I was concerned about where the bolts go through the impact absorbers. I have the new ones from what I have been told, and there are about 5 holes, some are different sizes, and I am not quite sure which one goes where.

If you plan on installing a winch or getting pulled out by the ARB it's recommended that you weld a new plate into the frame. If not, all you need to do is drill a new 1/2" hole in the bottom of the frame (step drill bit helps here) to secure another bolt and "crush sleeve".

Oh and make sure that you use and install the proper T nuts (and correct size bolts) into the mounting brackets. ARB supplies you with a big bag of bolts with limited instructions. Paying attention to this would have saved me an hour of frustration last week.
