I'm going to be completely honest here. After reading through this entire thread, I now have a migraine!

Izzardking, I've seen you on these boards for quite a while now, and have come to respect your opinion, on many topics. That being said, after reading all of these posts, it does seem to come accross as though you're bashing the tube bumpers. I'm not going to argue with you about the asthetics of the tube bumpers, as I have a similar opinion about them. However, I feel that your comments were a bit harsh. Saying "sure the tube bumpers look good if you're the type who likes slamming back a of 12 pack of Budweisers and call nascar a sport....yee-haw!" was really disrespectful man. I know you probably didn't really mean that, but someone who has a tube bumper, may take offence to that. In fact, anybody who drinks beer, and watches Nascar, might be wondering what the hell is wrong with drinking beer and watching Nascar?

Now, I personally like the plated bumpers over the tube bumpers, but only because I like a more factory look. In fact, I've decided to replace my smashed stock bumper with another stock bumper.

Scotty and his crew make an AMAZING bumper, you can tell they really do their research, and work hard at building up their business. Anybody who is in business for himself, will tell you his product is great, that's how you put bread on the table. He'd be a fool, not to chime in on this thread, and try to get a sale out of it.

Now that I've stood on my soap box, I'll prepare myself for the flaming which I know may come. I just thought I should point out a few things that I had noticed, and hoped that by doing so, might be able to squash this beef that is going on between you and the AOR guys.

This forum is the best one I've been on, people here are generally really cool to chat with, and you are definately one of them. Let's all just forget about this whole thing, help the OP get his bumper, and maybe all collectively have each a beer! Hell, maybe we can even enjoy a nice NASCAR race on TV! (I don't watch any sport, which doesn't have fists or kicks flying at peoples faces, he he he)arty:

I like my ARB, it's strong, it's airbag compliant, and I like being outdated because being in style means you wear girls' pants and eyeliner.

But, for wheeling a tube is just plain better. I don't know how anyone could really debate that unless maybe you build a really thin sword-looking ninja plate bumper that cuts rocks in half.

What's wrong with wearing girls pants? I would have to get fat chick pants. Or shop at at the plus size store and get a OO. Lol!


i love my arb! It's perfect. It drags when approaching bigger rocks and ledges, but it does no harm. Plus the winch is nice and hidden

Hey Brian you could just sas and hack the front and get mega huge tires that stick out further foreword than the bumper....

Wow! Just read the 5 pages of flaming. Personally I think that any bumper besides the factory is an improvement whether it is tube or plate. It's very much a personal preference and I don't think tube is the way to go for me.

On that note. Who else makes a plate style bumper besides ARB, Shockworks, Elite?

edit: oh, duh, just saw your location, if you are in Denver, make quick trip down to Colo Springs to Armorology, they make a sick plate bumper that in my opinion is better looking than anything else on the market. its just super $$$$

Something tells me that they are gonna be pricey. My guess is at least $100 more than an ARB, so maybe in the $900-$1000 range? I would have gotten a TJM for my truck but they used to be nearly impossible to find. According to the website, the US TJM market isn't open yet though.

hey everybody, just thought id post up a couple pics of the final product. So I ended up getting a small but unexpected bonus from work in addition to my return. discount tire also posted up a $50 rebate on BFG's that ive been eyeballing for some time so with the extra money i had left over from going the arb route, and the bonus from work i was able to get some new bfg at ta ko's. In addition to that i had my 15" split spoke takeoffs from my previously mentioned totalled 2nd gen, i found someone on CL who had 16"ers that he was trying to trade for 15" which i had. the clear coat was starting to peel off, but ive always wanted black wheels so i scored pretty much free wheels for the price of powdercoating ($150). That way i dont have to pay anymore to have my winter tires mounted/dismounted. So all is well that ends well. I actually think the ARB looks better in person then in all of the pics i have seen, but maybe im just in lust with my truck. i dont know, but either way im happy. Thanks again for everybody's input.

it is the taco one. pretty straightforward install. Im supposed to pick up my new wheels today or tomorrow and the new tires are already paid for, just need to drop off the new wheels. The powdercoat guy said he could match the arb, so i think having black tires with the arb and the black fender flares, its going to pop real nice. All i need now is a new rear bumper.

From the front it almost looks like the Prado bar, but that may be because the flares don't stick out as much as Limited ones. Looks good, should have mine on by Friday. To the OP, are you happy with the distance between the front/center vertical bars and the grill? How's the light mounting situation in there? I've seen an ARB on here that has 2 lights in between the lower bars and 2 on top of the top, is that the case with yours?
