ARB Skid Plates

I got my set on yesterday, kept my budbuilt gas tank skid on too . I'll get some pics of it tomorrow.

Why did you get rid of the Bud's?

Forgot to ask, they should work even with my front hitch, right?

It should, they go in at the stock mounting points. Only hard part I had was following the directions, they suck. It comes with all these brackets, and the way they wrote the directions is just a mess lol.

Why did you get rid of the Bud's?

I'm gearing my build more towards an expedition rig rather than a rock crawler now. I don't need 100+ pound skids, its easier to drive, and I got my 1 mpg back lol.

How long did they take to arrive?

Mine took 3 weeks, drop shipped from ARB. They were kind enough to also send me an ARB fridge that I didn't order :banana:

Thanks for the pictures. Those look great, and I think I will get some too. I don't want 200 pounds of steel plates on the bottom of my vehicle and these look like a great option for some lighter protection than BB or Shrockworks. What are your overall impressions so far?

I like them so far. Its a bit easier to make turns, before with the bumper and the skids, you could def feel it going into turns. I'll see how well they hold up, going for a light trail run tomorrow.

Yep, ARB meant to send it to Toyota of Dallas, but happened to send it along with my drop ship order instead. TRDParts4u gave me a pretty decent deal on the fridge. I had planned on purchasing that exact model at some point in the future.

Took the skids for a trial run today. They took a few small hits and didn't deform anything like the stock trail skid does.

The mid looks like it is bent up quite a bit on the passenger side, unless it is just the angle.

Can you give us a better pic of that mid skid? How do you feel about how well they held up in relation to the amount of abuse they received?

Dang, that mid skid looks pretty disappointing.
How did the trans skid do? That one seemed to be the strongest.

Stumps wouldn't even have phased BB's .
I hate to see if you actually hit a rock!
Checked mine last weekend and lots of fresh rock scars on mine but no dents at all.

Man, that is dissappointing. Looks like that mid skid will snag on something if you don't pound it back into shape. I guess you do get what you pay for, or at least know what you're buying it for. I was really excited about the price but that will not do it for me.
