Your truck looks damn good with the ARB, really conforms with the rest of the truck. Have you noticed a loss in power because of the bull bar?

Thanks. A little but nothing crazy. It is one of the heavier bumpers out there but it is very well buit.

Respectfully disagree. I understand what you mean, but as you know it'd cost well more than just $200 to get back to OEM between parts, paint, and labor cost and / or personal time spent. My point was more that it's a waste and doesn't look right... to me.
I realize that it's unlikely to return to OEM afterwards. I just think If they can make a whole bumper for ~$1500, they can certainly bring their design to below the headlights for $200. It's just that it's easier to bring the steel or aluminum straight across and cut the bumper cover rather than design something more form fitting. Just my opinion.

Yes. On the grill part there's a door that opens and closes that gives you access to winch clutch. Ill get a pic later tonight

There's really no great solution. The front clip isn't well designed to fit an aftermarket bumper. The body lines simply don't work with any of them. So you have to choose something that compromises in some way.
I personally think the biggest mistake is to try to make the bumper so high for approach angle. First it looks funny because it doesn't match the body lines. Second it exposes all the the suspension components to rocks and such. Third and most importantly it doesn't actually do anything for function. The front approach is basically never a problem. Front tires turn. So a measured approach angle directly from the front is not a representation of actual use. The departure angle is where the 4runner gets hung up. Not the front. The steeply upswept sides on most are what detracts from visual appeal. ARB did a better job of balancing the visual appeal to me. Of course it's all subjective. What I like someone else probably hates. Just my opinion.
I think manufacturing the form fitting bumper in steel is a lot harder than you think. Try it once.
I would buy a $200 replacement bumper skin, paint to match, cut and keep my OEM bumper in a safe place. The paint doesn't have to match all that well because it'll be obscured by the rest of the bumper anyway. Plus it'll fight tight where you can see and have the flex gap where it's not as obvious. But you're right - it's probably at least a $3-400 cost. Most people never go back so they probably don't care about cutting it up.

You hit it right on the head as to why I don't like the design of bumpers similar to Pefreybuilt. If you are out there pushing it with one of their bumpers and have a similar experience, Id bet your headlights would be cracked or destroyed. I think this is often overlooked.
I just came to the 4Runner (17) from an FJ (13) and the cruiser forums. I also think it's kinda ridiculous companies are not coming up with filler plate solutions, 1500-2k plus for a bumper with lights and you want me to cut my OEM bumper cover to make it work. I was 100% going with Demello (local) until I did my research and saw the pictures on the web included a filler plate not offered. I'm sure when companies do offer filler plates they will charge some exorbitant amount. I love my Runner but the FJ had more reasonable off-road accessory options. It seems lazy and shows a lack of injunuity.
I'm aware the whole design is more complicated but at the rate we buy these custom parts I expected more.

I don't get the fear of cutting some plastic, or how the designers somehow quite.
It's a winch bumper...if you like your front plastic then leave it....or look for other options that preserve the look.
The main reason I like the new Summit bumper (which is what the thread is about) is how they conceal the bottom half of the truck...most bumpers leave a whole bunch of mechanical showing below the front...looks incomplete that way.

Nope, but they got the filler right at least. Back on topic though, the more that [MENTION=153324]mAtTyGlaz[/MENTION] shows off the functionality of this design, the better I like it. Like [MENTION=47340]Titanpat57[/MENTION] said, the lower coverage is really nice. That grille access to the winch looks really thoughtful too. Whew, that weight tho.

looks great! any issues with the additional weight up front? have you changed the suspension?

Running King 2.5 coilovers with 700# coils. It's heavy. Definitely upgrade suspension with this bumper
