Are 4runners just too damn common?

Agree it does depend on where you live in the USA. I live in Boston area, I may see a few a day. Last weekend we were in Charleston SC, and 4Runners were everywhere. I s**t you not, I was watching TV when a Toyota commercial came on...it did not mention the 4Runner by name, but featured a shot of one - with an aftermarket roof rack! It was late, maybe I was dreaming.
 
Around here 4runners are very common. Maybe a 70-30% mix of bone stock family haulers to modded/lifted rigs and about a 50/50 male female driver split. Even more common are Tahoe/Yukons, Suburbans, various Land Rovers, GXs, Jeeps, but mostly Explorers - those things are everywhere. I do usually see at least one Land Cruiser a day. Saw a sweet FJ40 today.

That sites stats on inflation make no sense first off and I wonder if those numbers are even correct as it's registered to something called the "coinnews media group".

But even so it shows that gas stayed the same under Clinton, skyrocketed under bush, dropped then went up then dropped to the same under obama, and now we know it's skyrocketing under Trump.

This isn't a political thing, this is just reality. I find democrats and republicans equally disagreeable.

Sorry I didn't find something from CNN for ya... :)

That page discloses not only their data sources (U.S Bureau of Labor and Statistics), but also their calculation formula and methodology. It's crystal clear to me...

Adjusted for inflation, gas prices have been remarkably stable over the past 30 years. But yes, geopolitical issues do play a big part in short term price changes.
 
If you think 4Runners are common in your area, go to Hawaii. I was on Oahu and the Big Island last month, 4Runners and Tacos far out number Jeeps and likely 50% are modified.

Don't remember seeing many of them before I got one. Same as when I first got a Chrysler Sebring in 2009. The only vehicle I ever only saw one of on the road in the last 15 years is my Lincoln Blackwood (only made 3,356 blackwoods in 2002/3)

Uhh no. A good portion of CPI is based on the price of gasoline. Gas prices go up and the price of goods go up. It's a mostly useless equation and I have no idea why they bothered. Never trust someone else's numbers.


All you did was post the first thing that came up on google. Think for yourself my friend.

Also, watching any cable news channel is bad for your brain.

They are everywhere, but I would also say as popular as any other off road vehicle these days. My neighborhood is full of lifted 5th gens and Raptors and as of lately I've been seeing more people with G wagons. Still see more Wranglers on the road than any other vehicle though.
 
It was kind of annoying at first seeing them everywhere, now I like it..in fact I actually find myself waving at other owners...they probably think I'm weird..

wife and I went to a concert last night, pulled in the parking lot and into a random space..no lie there were at least 4 other 5th gens within spitting distance..
 
Stared paying attention to how many T4Rs there are in my area after posting to this thread earlier. I’m seeing 2-3 per day sometimes more. I drive past one silver 5th gen exactly like mine parked in a business lot every day on my way to work, but out in traffic I don’t see many. 4th gen seem to be the most common.

Hell, after switching from a ‘17 F150 XLT Super Crew to a ‘19 T4R Off Road, I finally feel like I’m driving one of the least common vehicles on the road in my area. Off road in FL two weekends in a row and I’ve seen mostly Jeeps, a few trucks and one FJ. I’ve been the only 4Runner on the Jeep trails. South central FL streets and highways along the coast are covered in smaller crossovers, F150s and Tacomas.
