Since the pistons are on the inside only and the oily residue is on both sides seeming coming out from behind the pads, it is my guess that the shop used some sort of grease for anti-squeak and it has slowly migrated out. If your brakes are leaking, you should feel the pedal going further to the floor over time. Since both sides look the same, I do not think it is caused by defective calipers or leaks.
Edit: Sorry, I'm on my first 4Runner. Had no idea we had 4-piston calipers! Looking at the shape of the outside of the caliper made me do a little googling to confirm. So it is possible that what you see is seepage from the pistons but it seems strange that the seals in both sides of both calipers would be letting go.
Thanm you for your response. Your initial response seems like the most plausible. The fact that both sides look the same I am guessing this is some kind of crazy residue from the install.
