Are sunroof motors in front of rear of the glass on 99 3rd gen ?

Are sunroof motors in front or rear of the glass on 99 3rd gen ?

I took a overhead console out of a 2000 limited to wire it up to my 99 and noticed the sunroof motor was in front. I'm pulling my headliner on my 99 sr5 and the motor is in the rear of the glass? I thought they were all in the front.
Is this correct?

According to an earlier post by brianmc2_42... it's in front just above the reading / map lights. He has a 97 SR5 but I have no reason to believe there would be any major redesign. I couldn't find anything definitive though and mine doesn't even have one. Good luck.

x2. The sunroof motor is mounted at the front of the entire sunroof assembly, just above the map lights. It is held in by two bolts (I believe 10mm)

Looks like an aftermarket sunroof was installed at some point prior to me purchasing and the motor is in the rear of the glass, strange...
I just purchased a headliner from a 2000 limited that had a sunroof, so I'm crossing my fingers that the motor in the rear doesn't get in the way when installing the new headliner.
I peaked up there today and noticed the original headliner was cut across right before the sunroof and is still up there. The previous owner probably did not want to purchase a factory headliner to accommodate for the after market sunroof, so they cut the original in half and installed an aftermarket sunroof and then an aftermarket headliner over half of the oem headliner that is still there.
Toyota must of made two headliners, one for sunroofs to make space for rails, etc and one for non-sunroof SR5 base models.

I hope this works.. I'll also have to make sure the drain tubes were installed correctly and hopefully Ill be able to tap into some wires for one-touch limited sunroof switch that I took out of the limited..

I still need to replace mine. I think I used Nelson's thread (no link sorry) as a reference for how to take apart the motor. The main problem as I understand it is that you have to drop the ceiling down to get access.
