Are these lift options okay?

My rear driver side is sagging about 1 inch more than my rear passenger.
I was planning on doing a small lift around 2 inches. I was looking at getting the following things, but wanted to know if it would work. From what I've read I believe it will, but just getting some specific feedback.

For the rear I'd like to replace stock springs with OME 906 for 2 inch lift.
I want to know if I can still use the stock shocks, or do I need to replace with aftermarket shocks? I believe they are still in good shape.

For the front I want to basically level it with the back. Toytec has two options that would appear to work. The Eibach Pro Truck Sports or the Bilstein 5100s that are adjustable.
First question: Are these compatible with the stock springs at a 2.5" height? Or would I need new springs?
Secondly, for 90% on road use, which would handle bumpy/rough Louisiana interstates better? Looking for the most on road comfort.


Or should I just get OME 880 front springs all on stock shocks?

If you're looking for comfort, then neither of the options you've listed will leave you happy.

I imagine you're still riding on the original springs, and currently have a fair bit of sag all around. Meaning, nearly any spring you chuck on there will give you lift.

Option #1 If you're after comfort, a small amount of lift, and increased capability without having to mess with panhard bars, UCA's, brake lines, gas tank interference, then I suggest going with the following:

- Springs from a 1999 Toyota 4runner Highlander Edition. Front and rear. These will net you about 1" over brand new stock SR5 springs and are highly respected in our community. They're also decently affordable.
- New OEM shocks/struts from the same vehicle. Very comfortable, yet decent offroad. Also stupid simple, affordable, and reliable.

Option #2 If you want more performance, while still retaining near the same level of comfort, then I suggest the following:

- King coilovers up front on about 2" of lift.
- Toytec Superflex Coils (the 3" version) in the back
- King shocks in the rear as well.
- Adjustable panhard bar
- Light Racing UCA's


Be advised, the second option will cost considerably more than the first option, but also perform amazingly offroad. If you're just getting your feet wet with 3rd gen's, I recommend the 1st option.

To make option 2 cheaper you could go with TRD tundra coils up front with tundra 5100 Bilsteins. Skip UCA's. Rear LC used 7 wraps and LC rear tokico shocks.
 
I just replaced my original shocks/struts and coils that were sagging a bit. I went with an all OME set-up (OME 890 Rear and OME 881 Front with ARB 60028 Rear and ARB 90004 Front). Despite what most say about about OME lifts, I've found it to be a slightly better ride quality on my daily driver than my old OE suspension.

I got about 2" of lift in the rear and 1.5" of lift in the front.

I replaced all of the shocks because they are designed to work with the exact height that the coils gave me. I figure if I'm going to do the coils I might as well do it once and throw some new shocks in as well.

FTFY. OME doesn't begin to compare with fresh OEM suspension in the ride quality category. OME, however, does excel at carrying buttloads of weight.

It rides better because your OEM suspension was worn out. OME does not compare to Toyota OE like stated above my post.

Yes. Don't forget to report back with your impressions after the install. Don't forget to replace those LBJ's unless you have documentation of their replacement in the last 75k miles.

I second this. I love my lift (ome springs and bilsteins) but it is admittedly very, very firm.

But ive towed my cherokee, with a trubk full of all my worldly possessions, and done just fine on the highway.
 
Not to thread jack here but I figured it was better than starting a new one. So I have a 98 limited that is driven mostly on road but I would like to add a mild lift to improve offroad capabilities.. I would like to gain about 2 inches overall without losing a lot of the ride quality, so my question is what is the best option for me both cost and result wise. Tundra coils and OME 906's in the rear or something else? And if I lift this two inches what else am I going to have to change so the alignment is right and i still have maximum flex, panhard bar, UCA's etc etc? Also if I was to do this right what am I looking at for cost?

Good choice here. I ran several different lifts for many years, and hated how all of them handled on the road as my daily driver. Now Im on 99 coils front and back, with oem Tokicos shocks in the back, and bilstein 5100s up front. It rides so much better than any of the lifts. I actually want to switch out my highly regarded 5100s for stock Tokicos in the front as well, as they will ride a little softer on the rebound.

If you want roughly 2" of lift, you can use the stock 99 coils and simply add a 1" daystar spacer lift. It will do no harm, will require no extra money or work, will ride the same, and give you that extra bit of flare. Being that the daystar bushing is rubber it also serves a bit like a bushing and helps further dampen the ride

What rear King shocks? Do they make a rear 2.5 that doesn't require you to relocate the shock mount to the outside of the frame? I read that people ran into issues with 2.5s in the rear when flexing in the original position.

After spending some time last night jacking the truck up to different heights and looking online for lift options I want to get your guys opinion on this setup. So Im thinking 99 tall coils front and rear, possibly with the daystar 1 inch spacer kit, with rancho rs5000 series shocks and struts. I say rancho because they are decently priced and having used them on some other vehicles they ride pretty nice.

All good until you said Rancho . I dont care at all for Rancho's , have had them on some off road rigs and hated them ( IMO ) . Save and spend a little more on something good ( Bilsteins or the Tokicos )

I would not go with KYBs again. Had them on my 97 and it was a Terrible ride.

I'm leaning towards 99s in the rear on stock shocks (possible spacers) and then Bilstein 5100s in the front on stock springs. I think for a mild lift I'll get the most bang for my buck
 
So, I plan on doing the following after a bit more research:
99 tall coils in rear
Stock 01 coils up front

Bilstein Tundra 5100s up front
Bilstein 5100s in rear (do I need these or can I stay stick with everything else listed??)
Daystar 1.25" spacer.
Thoughts?
 
Good question. I'd like to get about a 2" lift.

I'm thinking if I get the spacers I'll have to get extended travel rear shocks.
If I stay with the 99 talls I can keep stock shocks.

Are the spacers a bad idea?
