Oh I understand.. I can just see something comeup, the guy tries to sell it and buyers are wondering why it says 2wd on the title..

If it were me I would just trade it for a 4wd platform to start with.
 
I don't think you're gonna get Clueless Grandma to buy it based solely on the title... a little explanation goes a long way.

Have fun with it, that's all I can say. Right now I'm stuffing a V8 into a focus and I've never done any kind of fab work or anything else crazy like this. I'm just taking it one day at a time and learning in the process. If I work up enough courage, I may custom build an intake manifold to route a supercharger to.

Actually, I have done a bit of custom stuff... but that was a turbo upgrade on an already turbocharged car, so it was really more just changing parts and wiring. Other than that... a bit of exhaust work. Just find out what you can about the process and don't give up.

thats an option however it winds up costing more to do this. you have to trade in your vehicle for a new car loan. The loan costs x number of dollars over a certain (longer than you have already been paying your loan for) year period. Then once you get the trade in value for your vehicle you still have to pay off whatever loan you may currently be under, taking away money you can put toward the new vehicle, adding more to the loan financed amount. just to get a stock 4wd truck and start all over with any modifications you may have already accomplished on the truck you currently own.

So on the other hand, purchasing used parts here and there refurbishing them and converting a vehicle you already have equity into or perhaps even paid off. You wouldn't spend nearly as much money in the end game doing a conversion compared to converting what you have.

If you do a S/C I'd just do larger injectors, colder plugs/T-stat, and new fuel pump. Then you can just run a custom tune and have the option of running meth. Meth might be a cooler option than E-85 and 7th injector.

Meth is corrosive to the engine, however. E85 is not.

e85 is. Not only the water but since e85 is not regulated you can have a bad batch and have a real bad day. My suggestion is look for a better engine oil to help protect your bore and honing as well as change the fuel filter more often.

Now I dont understand what you mean by internal intercool? Are you saying you want that or don't want that. If you are talking about cooling capacities the air to air on the urd is far better than the trd that uses a small water to air unit.

The external intercooler is mounted in front, and I don't believe intercooler+water=good time..

Relative to gasoline, it is pretty much no more corrosive. Methanol is more corrosive, but yes, water does happen to get in there.

And sorry on the redundancy, my point was that it was at the very front, which is very susceptible to water.

all intercoolers are mounted in the front of the vehicle for best cooling purposes. water doesn't hurt it just like water doesn't hurt your radiator or air conditioning condenser.

Except for vehicles like the Subaru WRX that have the intercooler mounted on top of the engine, beneath the functional hoodscoop.

I don't understand starting with a 2WD then spending money converting it to 4WD. I know you said you don't want a car loan, but if you can't afford to trade up to a 4WD how are you going to afford all the other stuff (superchargers, engine bits, suspension etc.)?

Time is money too. Unless you have so much leftover you really just don't know what to do with it. In that case. Good on ya! :)
 
E85 likes to absorb water as it's hygroscopic. If the vehicle's fuel system is not e85 compatible the seals and filters will be compromised. Toyota's are ahead of the game compared with other manufacturers but you still need to invest in fuel stuff that is e85 compatible. Take the fuel sock filter for example if you run a cotton based filter you run the risk of clogging that up not to mention all the crap your gonna pick up from the bottom of the tank that the e85 will pick up. You'll also need a e85 content analyzer. And MUCH bigger injectors than the trd 425's with a 7th. You will definitely surpass the duty cycle. E85 is cool and all but I would not trust considering that you can have a MAXIMUM of 80-85 percent ethanol and a minimum of 65-68 percent. So it is a very inconsistent fuel to use, hence the need for the analyzer.
