And the section width (tread width) is also indicated by the arrows on the sidewall, Dad. Tape- measure them for results!

The tires I considered before I bought the Coopers were:
1. Michelin LTX/AT
2. BFG All Terrain TA
3. Goodyear Silent Armor
4. Firestone Destination AT.
5. Cooper Discoverer AT3

Performance:
So far I have driven about 600 miles with 90% of that interstate driving. Here are my impressions:
1. Body roll on medium to high speed turns has declined somewhat.
2. No additional noise at speed than OEM tires.
3. Braking is fine.
4. Nosedive has not completely gone away but is much less noticable.
5. Gas milage for interstate driving is about the same so far. It will take several months to determine if these tires reduce mpg. I calculate lifetime mpg to take out as many variables as possible. New tires are a milestone and I will report back when data is available.
6. Mud traction is much better than stock tires. I have only driven about a mile off road but traction is improved and the tread seemed to clear just fine.
7. The "look" of the tire is not as important to me as performance but I have gotten a lot of compliments since I put these tires on the 4Runner. It does improve the looks of the vehicle in my opinion.
8. The tires ride very smoorh on interstate. My wife was with me on my trip this weekend and even she commented on the smooth ride.

I appreciate your imppressions of the Cooper Tire. Very informative. But I see that you also have a set of the Firestone Destination AT which was one of the tires I was considering and have heard good things about as well. What are your impressions/observations between the Firestones and the coopers? Would be curios about your +/- comparing these two tires.

The only reason I chose the Coopers over the GY Silent Armor or Firestones is the lug is a bit bigger on the Coopers and I do go off road and it's mostly mud. In my opinion you cannot go wrong with the Firestones. Great on road manners when I had them.

Well, Dad... I was wrong.

I'm man enough to admit it, at least. I did some Google-ing when I got home. Those arrows on the sidewall that I was referring to have a purpose, but it has nothing to do with the tread-width. They show the location of the wear-bars within the tread of the tire. Follow the arrow from the sidewall to the tread and you will see what I mean.

I was taught some mis-information years ago (along with a trusted resource- Tire Center Manager!) and was POSITIVE I was correct. Insert appropriate Smiley...:roadkill:

I see your your point. I use my 3rd gen for my off road treks. My new 5th gen is strictly a on road vehicle. Thanks for the input.

Okki, I can't find these on Tire Rack or a comparable website with lots of reviews. Just wanting to know what there long term reviews are. Where did you do your research at for these tires?

How's the on road manners?

Tire Details - Discount Tire

I love them so far. They aren't really noisier than what stock was (by my ear anyways), but in the massive rain we had here recently they RULED. it was the Coopers or duratracs and the Coopers where cheaper and come with a 55K warranty (the duratracs don't).

Thanks for the review.
Good timing. I was ready to drop a grand on the Michelins. Those Coopers are tires I hadn't considered.
 
Yeah, I'm getting those Cooper AT3's sometime soon too now. I was leaning towards them, but this thread won me over.
