Yes, they are slightly noisier than the stock tire, as any A/T tire will. A/T tires have wider gaps in the tread, which will cause an increase in noise rolling down the highway. That said, the Cooper AT3 are not dramatically noisier on the street. I have a set that will probably be replaced before the coming winter. I'm not sure that I will go with the Coopers again, as I have experienced some strange wear patterns on the inside and outside lugs on all four tires. Other than the strange wear, they have been fine tires.

[MENTION=138131]brockvond[/MENTION] Have you had much experience with them in the snow/ice? I've just picked up Rotiiva AT Plus in stock size. I'm still on the fence about running dedicated winters and keeping these for summer/shoulder season. Up here we can get early/late snowfalls, especially in the mountains so having a "snowflake" rated tire isn't a bad idea year round. At the same time I'm looking for top snow/ice performance through the winter since I'm heading to the mountains skiing 1-2 days a week.

Ok, on the fence with these. I love how quiet it was on the test drive. Debating if I should for-go the ATs and go with something like a Michelin Defender LTX M/S2.

I agree they're louder than the stock tires, but also agree that I don't think you can get away from that entirely with an AT. I would think anything noticeably quieter is going to have a much more conservative tread and likely be P rated and not LT.

Pretty sure I decided on the Michelin Defender LTX M/S. I had the LTX M/S2 on my Xterra and they were great tires.
Now I'm totally confused on Load Ratings. Looks like they have a SL and E rated. From my understanding SL is Standard Load with a smaller ply rating, weigh less and have a softer ride. E has a larger ply rating, which I assume has a tougher sidewall, but is also heavier and has a stiffer ride.
I don't plan on hauling or towing much. My only consideration for E rated would be tougher sidewalls and better handling maybe? I wouldn't won't a rough ride though.

I thought I'd post some pics of the Rotiivas. First impression is that they are quiet and good grip on dry asphalt. I've had them on a couple pretty rough forestry roads with a mix of loose rocks, gravel and sand; including one fairly steep climb in very soft but dry dirt. Tires did just fine, I'll be curious about snow performance. These are stock size.

Anyone with feedback on Hankook dynapro ATm tires? It doesn't seem like many on this forum use em for some reason. They are well reviewed and seem popular enough elsewhere.
I was almost sold on P-rated Hankook tires but now that I've decided to go LT, KO2 might get the nod.

I had a set on my Frontier PRO-4X. They did well in snow despite not being "badged" for it. They wore well and evenly. Got a little noisy, as AT tires are wont to do. They're one of the lighter AT tires in 265/70/17, but that probably won't translate to much of a savings at the pump. Appearance-wise, I prefer the Falken Wildpeak AT3/W that I'm running on my 4R now.

I have also had a lot of cupping with the Cooper Discovery AT3s (P) despite rotating on schedule. Also, looking for replacement prior to the ski season. I did like their performance in snow especially, but 50k miles and cupping is nothing compared to the Michelin's on my last 3G 4R. At the time, the AT3s were rated very highly in this forum as well as #1 in CR ratings. Now, they are way down the line in CR A/T reviews.
Still figuring it out. Will post what I end up with.
Interesting that you should post, as I lost one of my AT3s to a screw (unfixable due to the location next to sidewall). Discount Tire can pro-rate a replacement tire, as I did not get the optional road hazard coverage at purchase. However, with 44K miles on the tires, I may just spill for a new set now. I probably have 7-8 mm of tread remaining. Still not sure what I would get though.
I had KO2s in 265 C load for about 500 miles, swapped to 275 E load, and 8,000 miles later I'm considering switching back to 265 C.
Why? After installing 200lb of sliders and skids, my 4R feels like a hog. I like the extra size of the 275s and the added peace of mind of the E rating when I'm off-road (I tend to always find sharp rocks on accident), but the hit to day-to-day responsiveness and fuel economy/driving range is enough to get me to consider switching back.
Also, my 275 E now vibrate between 55-60mph (they never did before) and after 2x balancing and 1x road force balancing they still vibrate. Toyota refuses to try to fix it until I go back to the stock size tire.
Ended up going with the Cooper AT3s again. Was really considering the Firestone Destination A/T but, my local dealer could not get their hands on them in the stock size in a P rating. Looked at some of the other contenders as well. In the end, the deciding factor was that I could get the AT3s through my Discount Tire dealer for ~ $460 out the door after rebates are applied.
OT question: When utilizing the spare tire, what do people do to keep the chain that holds the spare tire from rattling around?

Just came back from having my new AT3s mounted. On the drive back home, it was obvious that the old set had developed a good bit of road noise as they wore (7mm of tread remaining, 3 1/2 years old), as the new set was much less noisy. The odd treadwear on the shoulders may have contributed to the noise level, but I don't know that to be fact. I may get a fresh alignment and watch to see how this set fairs (as to wear pattern).
Sorry to quote myself, just an update on these Pirelli Scorpion ATR's: 35,000 miles now and still doing great. Quite, great in all weather, and still have another 10-15k miles left on them.

FWIW, I ended up going with the AT3's from Discount Tire and getting the rebate as well. They were really pushing the ATP's, saying the AT3 was being discontinued in favor of those (and that's what they'd replace mine with in the event of a warranty claim). Not sure whether that's really the case but if it is, I'm hoping I don't have to make a claim because I really like the AT3's. SO MUCH BETTER than stock and got me over some gnarly stuff on a recent 5k mile road trip. Did have to be balanced 2x though before they got it right
