In Colorado? I had to do it after I bought back my motorcycle that got totalled out. The county clerk explained it only applied to five model years and newer, and because of that I had to stamp "rebuilt from salvage" on the frame and trailer it to the state patrol HQ to get inspected for roadworthiness.
