Hi everyone,

Last night a drunk driver decided to take away our 2001 4Runner IJM Sport.

Here are two recent pictures.

*It was parked on a quiet street, nobody was hurt except the drunk driver who has a few felonies and is in jail. We were sleeping at the time. It was a 2005 Suburban, didn't get to see it however.

I am looking to get another one and transfer all the parts over ASAP.

I have posted a WTB thread in the classifieds but that does not get nearly as much attention as this section does.

Another reason I am posting here is because I know in every car market, there are some guys that want to sell thieir car but are hesitant because:

1) they know they have a nice vehicle and it deserves a high price, selling a "higher end" 4Runner for $8-11k is not that easy when you can find a lot of them for $4-6k

2) they don't want to deal with tire kickers, lowballers, scammers, etc

So I am reaching out to anyone on here that has recently entertained the idea of selling their 4Runner, I am looking to buy another within this week, as soon as tomorrow even. But I need to find the right one.

Here are some of the requirements of what I am looking for:

• 99-00 or 01-02 (pref 01)
• Sport / Highlander required
• Gray cloth interior required
• Imperial Jade Mica (preferred) but will take clean Thundercloud / Silver
• Automatic and 4x4 required
• Supercharger and/or Locker would be wonderful but not required
• Stock trucks or slightly modified with quality parts are preferred
• Clean trucks only, no major dents, dings, chips, peeling, etc

Because I am looking for a very clean truck, my budget reflects that, and have no problem paying on the upper end of 3rd gen values to replace my original truck.

Please PM me with a small description and some pictures if you can and let me know what you are asking. The worst I can say is no, and will not be wasting anyones time! Like I said I am looking to buy within the next week or ASAP. I am in Bozeman, MT but have no problem shipping the car or driving to you within reasonable distance.

Correct, I think its more about the trim package, the sport hood, etc.

We will be transferring the lift to the new 4Runner (unless it comes with one).

Understandable. TBH I think it should be more of a "bonus" than a necessary feature, though. You can buy those scoops for under $120 regularly. I wouldn't discount the possibility of a rig that's amazing for a hood scoop you know? I am on your side I just want you in something awesome. Aesthetics shouldn't prevent a sale of a great truck. Nowadays I would take a clean one and make it into what you want and add some things. Clean 3rd gen rigs are getting tougher by the day

I can understand you wanting a sport edition. They are great looking trucks. Just something about them makes the trucks look more like a truck. Put a lift on them and they look pretty bad ass. Here is my latest sport edition. If I decide to keep it, it's gonna get some Bilsteins and a 3" lift. And other small mods.

So sorry to see that hit it took
You want to transfer everything to another truck (great if you find a nice one)
but yours looks like it took the bulk of the hit above the frame.....If you know someone just to ask see if they could price out putting that rear corner clip on from the door back and about 6" above the window.....The whole rear clip would be easier
(all depends on extent of frame damage)
I used to do that type of stuff years back and it's not all that hard if you know what to do.
Just a suggestion

If you do find another truck it would be nice to have all those extra parts

Sport/Highlander is marketing BS, and reflects nothing in terms of real world hardware. Everything you need to convert any old $4k 4runner into a "sport" is available to those willing to slap the (few) parts on.

Glad you and the family are OK and were in bed when this happened. You can always replace your rig. Just as recent as yesterday I made a run down to Clackamas via 82nd (used car lots galore) and was commenting to myself how many IJM 4runners I saw in the various lots. Several sport packages. One or two gold letter. Most silver.

Try looking at Seattle, and Portland CL. It's a short flight from BZM to PDX or SEA. If you see something you like anywhere in Portland, PM me and I can take a look at it for you. If I see something I'll look at it and let you know if it's legit.

EDIT: If you see one without the scoop, I think G&R off Columbia Blvd (you can look them up) still has an IJM with scoop. The problem with buying a hood out of state is it has to be crated. That runs you a few $$. At least if you picked one up here, you could swing by G&R and swap hoods.

EDIT: I just realized you still have your own hood if the insurance will let you take it and the color keyed flares. That's 90% of the "sport" package. The rest of the package was pretty much standard on all SR5's.

The scoop maybe cheap, but then you have to buy the hood with the cut out & then get it painted to match. So you're looking at $800 for a new mint sport hood. Unless you can find one color matched in a junk yard in decent condition. They're usually wrecked though. Also the Sport or Highlander comes with the most comfortable seats out of all 3rd Gens

I have been looking for a clean one also. I have a 97 thats got too much rust and looking for another one without any rust anywhere. its not an easy find! Atleast your budget is higher than mine! Good luck!
