Auto Door Locks

Hey everyone!
Just picked up my second 4Runner. 04 V6 Sport 4x4... traded in my 00 Limited... what a difference 4 years can make.

The only thing I can't stand is the doors locking the minute you take it out of P... is there anyway to make it so the doors don't lock at all. I was reading in the manual that you can make it so when you put it back in Park the doors will automatically unlock, but I don't want them locking period... anyone know how to turn this off.

Thanks
Sno

i dont remember exactly how right now but i know it's in the manual. something about turning on and off the ignition and pressing the door lock button within 3 seconds.

If I remember right from the manual, the only other option is to set the doors to lock when you reached a certain speed (13 mph I think) but I don't think you can make them never lock at all

To cancel it, just do the steps in the manual. Each time you do it, you either activate it or cancel it. I believe it's setting "A" and it's something like:
Turn ignition to on with transmission lever in "P" and within 10 seconds, push "lock" and hold for 3 sec. It's something like that.

Thanks for all the great input! I finally got it to where when I take it out of P it locks and then put it back in P it unlocks, which for now I guess is good enough.

When you change the settings, you first have to "undo" the factory setting (lock doors when moved from park). It is in the manual. Then you can set it to lock the door at 13mph.
I couldn't stand it locking when I shifted from park, because I have to pull out of the garage to let the wife in, then manually unlock the door for her to get in. What a PITA! Since I reset it, I am happy as a clam!
