Auto hubs help!

Anyone know of a detailed writup on how to rebuild/re-assemble the auto hubs on an '87 sr5 4runner? My buddies daily driver 4runner has the autos, and we pulled everything apart 2 weeks ago to replace his front rotors and tried to use the fsm to put the auto hubs back together but its rather vague with poorly printed pictures and we thought we had it done right. Checked the hubs by spinning the front driveshaft by hand with the front wheels off the ground. Now its starting to lock the hubs violently randomly while driving in 2wd. If any one is in the North Florida area and can lend a hand one evening that would be amazing. Either that or someone have a set of manual hubs for REAL cheap he can get? These autos are the devil to assemble and far too expensive to rebuild on a tight budget if something is seriously wrong.

Google is your friend. There are how-to's and videos on the inter-web.
One for a manual hub will do.
The usual problem is the grease inside has hardened up, and a good cleaning and regrease is all that's needed.

We did clean and regrease everything, We tried to use a writeup on manual hubs to put the autos back together but they were nothing alike inside.

I had that problem with the autos, it would lock on one side over and over, making the truck hop and shake when stopping.

They are crazy to repair or rebuild.

He might be better off buying a spindle nut conversion kit and throwing on some manual hubs of any brand. If money is tight just get the cheapest ones you can find. They will be stronger than the autos.

That's true, the manuals are a better choice.
Used ones are usually easy to find, just make sure they are from an IFS truck.
I looked at my FSM and they are more different from the manual hubs then I remembered.

Ebay, over a 100 bucks a pair on average for any brand manual hubs, around here locally there is none left in the yards. Did find a set of landcruiser ones but the spline count is wrong. If anyone has a set of them laying around that is at least in decent shape that you can let go for cheap it would really help him out.
