Auto Power Window Switch Install

Hey, quick question. Sounds stupid, but I get kind of annoyed that my front right window on the driver's window controls is not 'auto' up and down.

Are the part sizes interchangeable? Meaning, could I install 'auto' switches in the other 3 non-auto switch bays? I'd probably only do the passenger, but just curious if such a thing has been done...and whether it's easy.

You need to replace the switch and the motor in the door. Motors from the Lexus GX470 will bolt and plug in. Doing the switch will be tricky because they are built into the whole switch panel.

I really miss the passenger side auto up and down after going from 3rd gen to 4th gen. Among other things.... ;)

Yeah, I thought I remembered them being all clustered together (them being switches 2-4 on the panel). I guess I didn't think of the motor either. Eff. Sounds like a bigger job than I had hoped for...and $120ish in parts. I think I can just get over being annoyed with it.

I also miss my '02 anniversary edition, sport SR5. Great truck. I miss it often.
 
Yep, not cost effective for me too. I console myself with the 4th gen sunroof and rear window now having auto close/up. (Although the lack of power outlets and the stupid climate control setup are starting to irritate me too, lol)

No sunroof for me, so that's not so much a bother. The power issue is a pain. The old 02 had two CLs in the dash, and the 08 only has one (unless you get that smokers insert). I think I'm going to use my unused button slots in the middle console for USBs. Seems fairly straight forward. I do also want to install an inverter in the rear.

This is an interesting little gadget. From what I see, it will allow you to auto-close 2 windows remotely via your fob (as the alarm is armed), but will also give the master switchboard auto up and down capabilities for the same two windows. From what I'm reading, it doesn't sound like you need to replace the switches either... Gonna have to dig into this and see if it'd work.

What info have you gathered? Does it work with the stock setup, or do you need to have a DT brain in the car for a starter/alarm?...
 
Yes, that DEI box will work

I used to install those in all manner of cars when I was an alarm installer. It completely bypasses the cars window up/down relays and goes directly to the motors.

Is there an update to any of this? Im trying to find the best way to get my passenger window to be an auto and I was curious to if anybody did one of these installs.
 
i have 2 of these dei modules, one for the front and rear. have to run 2 pairs of 14 gauge wires to each door, and it has to go to the window motors just like the direction.

Your link says "You need permission", I'm logged in to Google, but it seems you would have to grant permission for the public to view your photo/account.

Reviving this thread with new information. I took a chance and ordered a Rav4/camry ( Replaces OEM 84820-12480) switch panel from Amazon that has all 4 windows with the auto feature. It was plug and play and works as intended on my 4runner. It even has light up blue led lights.

so its only for the driver side that makes it have auto control.

when I wired in those DEI modules, all the door switches have the auto function.

No. It's all 4 windows that are now automatic and this panel is also led back lit. Can't beat that for $32.

what I mean is, you get all 4 windows auto control at the driver side master switch?

so the individual switch at each door is still not auto?
