Auto to Manual swap...what's involved?

If my auto transmission is indeed headed for the grave, I might consider replacing it with a manual transmission.

I currently have the multi-mode 4x4 with the rear locker. What would be involved with swapping in the manual set up? Pros/cons?

If this has already been discussed, and someone has a link, please let me know.
