Auto to manual swap

I have a 98 auto with the awd transfer case and I was wondering if it is possible to swap in my 96 5 speed while still keeping the awd transfer case

The 1998 4Runners never came with the Multi-mode transfer case, if that's what you mean by AWD, even if it's a Limited. The Multi-mode transfer case started on the Limited's in 1999.

I just finished my swap, used a 99 Taco tranny and kept my multimode tcase. It bolts right on.

Does it have its own ecu or do I have to find a complete harness? Also is there a write up you followed?

Not any help bur I'm putting in a 5 speed in my 97 . Just installed the clutch pedal. Bout to drop tranny and be on the road. I have a repin chart no check engine code
