Auto Trans Magnetic Drain Plug

So - like the title says - who knows a good link/ source for an automatic transmission magnetic drain plug that they can confirm works for our 3rd gen transmissions? I found a few on Amazon but the comments stated they were too long. I need to do a fluid change pretty soon and wanted to swap drain plugs while I was at it.

Appreciate the link to the stock items; but I have not found anything that says the stock drain plug has a magnet in the tip. I am trying to upgrade a little with this move.

Couldn't you just slap a couple strong neodymium magnets on the pan itself to help trap metal? Can't clean it out easily like a plug magnet but it wouldn't be much different than the four magnets sitting inside the pan already.

I thought about putting a magnet on the outside of the pan; but was hoping to find out that I could remove and clean every 30-50,000 miles.

No - I did not find much metal in there last weekend but I am trying to get preventive considering this transmission has 265,000 miles on it. It is shifting great and pulls strong with the Transgo shift kit in it from last weekend.

Get yourself a Magnefine inline transmission filter if you are concerned. It'll do way more for you than just a magnet. They are highly regarded, I have had one on the power steering for about 4 years now.

If you want to clean every 30K miles, it wouldn't be that much of a hassle to just drop the pan instead of just using the drain plug, that way you can clean all the debris thoroughly.

What factory trans magnet? My drain plug bolt does not have a magnet; but I cannot confirm it is the OEM plug. I had the transmission apart last weekend and did not see any magnets.

Probably the next option; I just hate adding another spot where it can leak.

That is about once a year for me. I would prefer to not drop the pan unless I really need to.

Toyota PN 35394-30011

4WD trans uses 4, 2WD trans uses 3 (shallower pan too...)

I misspoke earlier when I said there were 3 magnets. There should be 4. Here are before/after pics of mine at around 350,000 miles when I flushed the tranny.

I saw the flat spots on the inside of my pan and wondered what should be there. That makes sense that the magnets would go there. Wonder if I could just "glue" some magnets to the outside of the pan in that location like mentioned earlier.
