Auto unlock

I think you need the dealer to reprogram it for you. There's a post here about stuff the dealer can progam somewhere. I'm pretty sure that was one fo them.

Seems like it is kind of a bad security idea to unlock doors as soon as it is in park. Last car waited until I opened the drivers door.

do an advanced search in the 5th gen forum for "list customizations dealer can program", will provide all your options

You don't need to go to the dealer IIRC, check your manual. I think it involves some combination of switching the ignition on/off and holding down the lock or unlock switch....

Sorry, I was posting from my phone last night and didn't search first.

Thank you for the PDF. It had just what I was looking for.

this only applies to the limited using the outside door handle.

EDIT: disregard what I said!

hmmmm....its on page 54 of my manual, for vehicles without smart key. The illustration also clearly shows the interior lock/unlock switch when describing the procedure...

Correct, and it's also in the 2011 manual, same page, 54, and includes smart key system, pretty simple too. :wink2:

You're right...I read your answer wrong... I thought you were referring to something else. :ybrick:

So I took it to the dealer on Sat and they did half of my requests. They turned off the auto unlock when put in park but he said the other option isn't possible. It is right below the other option on the PDF listed ITT (Opening driver’s door unlocks all doors).

Anyone know if I can get the auto unlock reprogrammed so it doesn't auto unlock when put in park?
For my 4th Generation...there's a way to do it yourself & have the doors remain lock when you put it back into P.

Check your manual, that's where I found my information. If you still can't find it, PM me & I'll try to put up the info for you on the 4th Generation & see if you can attack it the same way.

The service writer is not a mechanic, he doesn't know anything but how to sell you services. the guy with the Techstream computer in back only looks at what the service writer has written down and then does it. I would print out the PDF, circle the exact settings you want, and then go back and complain until they set them all correctly.

wait, i'm confused dammit! So can i turn this stupid feature off myself or do i need to take it to the G D dealership?

You can turn it off/on yourself. Check page 54 of your manual (mine is 2011, might be different for 2010, but I doubt it)

alright. sweet. thanks for following up on this. yeah i got a 2011 too. I'll do this tomorrow. props to you!

Did this myself last week, follow the instructions, you can't go wrong.

There are some things we can do without the dealership :thumb3:. For instance, when I picked up my 4runner, I asked the salesman about taking the NAV off the map screen, and putting it to something like the DVD, SAT, or radio, he played with it a little and said it couldn't be done. Came on the forum, bigger than day, there were the instructions for making your NAV change over from the map screen.

just did this outside in about 1 minute. turn car off then turn to ON position. Leave it in Park. then hold down lock button for 5 seconds. boom goes the dynamite

thanks for the motivation bro
