Has anyone installed the Auto Vox M6 dash/backup camera? I'm curious how to route the wires from the rear license plate camera through the rear lift gate.

I bought it. You'll probably need 2 people. I managed to get the wire for the camera into the tailgate through the license plate light wiring. I stopped there, because I'll need help with wiring up the tailgate itself. It's a chore. You'll need a lot of patience and a coat hanger. I live in an apartment though with no friends, so I'll have to wait till I go home to get my dad to help me.
After you do that it's pretty straight forward. Just wire to backup light and ground it, then wire it all the way to the monitor.

I did mine through the tailgate and it was an absolute nightmare. I wasn’t able to run rca cable through the rubber grommet so I snipped instead and rewired it closer to the head unit. After spending nearly 10 hours working to do this my camera isn’t getting any feed. I don’t know if it’s not getting power or if the rca cable is bad or possibly both.
You will 100% have to use a coat hanger to run the wire through the tailgate. Good luck...

I have installed a couple rear view cameras through tailgates. I use WD-40. Spray it down the rubber wire guide. poke the metal coat hanger through, bend the end around, stick some wire through the newly made eye in the coat hanger, tape it back to itself and pull.
As far as snipping the RCA cable, I found that over soldering could cause a problem. (Ask me how I know). Minimal soldering might help things.

Getting the wires through the rubber grommet was the easiest part for me. I read a lot of people struggle with this part of the install. My issue was running the wire in the small channel that runs adjacent to the window. I kept getting snagged somewhere no matter how many times I tried. I’d get halfway down every time and get stuck. Nearly had a meltdown. Bottom line my backup camera is still not working. I’m going to buy a long rca cable and run it to my headunit to see if my existing cable was bad or if the power on the camera isn’t working.
