Auto Window Switch

RonMAIDEN's thread on 3rd Gen upgrades got me thinkin about trying to get my hands on another Auto window switch for the passenger side window. Since this feature wasnt carried over to the 4th gen. Does anyone know if you can just replace the switch with a yota auto switch or does the window module itself have to be replaced? Also if the "auto" function is contained in the switch, which I figure is, can you just plug and play with the new auto switch?

I don't know. I do know there are many T4R's sold as Surfs w/auto right side windows. I would love the whole right side switch module hooked up. It would eliminate being instructed on the proper window configuration for the dogs!:D

leftyguns21 and I went snowboarding yesterday and this exact question came up. Neither of us have seen a writeup on this mod but it seems like it would be easy to do, especially if the auto window switch is a direct swap and not additional modifications are necessary. The other added benefit would be adding a lighted window switch for the passenger. Has anyone attempted this mod or have any additional info?

I checked into doing this a long time ago. If memory serves, the switch, controller, and wiring all need to be changed out. I didn't look at how to mount the controllers or run the wiring, because it was far more money than I wanted to spend.

to get one touch to all windows, get 2 dei 530t, each unit controls 2 windows, , run 2 pairs of speaker wires 14 gauge to each doors, and wire them directly to motor and harness of the module, then u have one touch. mount both module in the center of the truck, under the center armrest, its easy, the 2 pair of speaker wires are to extend the motor wires, one is up and the other is down, and its to run back to the module, its nice to have this hook up to the alarm, so when armed it rolls the windows up. search up the 530t on here and i have a thread about it.

I wanted to do the same since I got the truck, but lagged & eventually got lazy.

My old car...I installed Clifford G4 alarm w/ the Smart Windows, so I had auto up/down & I can roll up/down w/ the remote.

I was also thinking of going to the dealer or going to the Lexus Service Department...because I'm sure they can install a switch.

I wonder if it's just the driver's switch that needs to be replaced so all windows are auto or do they have to replace a switch on all sides.

I've included a link for you to check out. I've been holding onto this link for quite some time now, just got lazy & afraid I need to take off the door panels. Just didn't want to touch it.

Keep us informed w/ what you do.

Oh yeah...the new Toyota Venza has auto windows for all corners, so it's very possible.

Is this the thread you're referring to? http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?t=53327&highlight=530t

ive been toying with the idea of mounting a small led somewhere above the switch panel on the door so u can at least see it at night when the headlights are on.

The 530t on eBay is cheap, less than 50 a piece. All u need is get some 14 guage speaker wires, about 50-100 ft if u are planing to replace the speaker wires too, use the plus side to window up motor, negative to window down, dei has instruction on website, go to dei and go to shop online, click security accessories and search the 530t , u guys will figure out why use 2 pairs of speaker wires.

I have a 99 surf with an auto window on my driver's side (your passenger side). Was at the wreckers last week and found a 2000 runner that had a window switch on the drivers side and two of the switches were auto. I took it, got home and plugged it into my truck. My passenger window worked as an auto window, but my driver's side doesn't now. Leads me to believe that I just need to swap the auto switch from the wrecker module into my surf module. Thoughts?

i want to get the rid of the auto function on the drivers side, drives me nuts, you cant open the window a little (flicking the switch) little without it rolling all the way the down, or up.

Any ideas how to disable it!? so the auto roll down / up does not work...

Disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes will disable auto on drivers window, rear window and sunroof until you reprogram them.

Disconnecting battery will only disable it for one or two times most likely, once you take the window all the way down and then raise it, it will most likely be reprogrammed, because that is how you reprogram the windows after a battery disconnect, except you're suppose to hold the switch in the up position for a few seconds after it closes, when I did mine it only took 2 second for it to work.

I don't think there's a way to permanently disable the auto up/down, it took me a while to get use to it, now I have no problem just moving the window a little bit up or down.
