The TRD Pro seems to be a very elusive vehicle as they are sold before they arrive according to the dealer! And I can’t get any special pricing for that one, but thanks for the info I did not know the Pro had auto head lights, I though only the Limited had it.

They are indeed very hard to find. I had to call around until I found one two hours away that a guy had ordered but his financing "fell through". I drove up that day, drove it around, bought it on the spot, and while I was signing the paperwork, the original guy came back wanting to buy it. I talked to five different dealerships in the area when I was looking for mine and they all said they've never had a TRD Pro sit on their lot for more than two days. I consider myself super lucky that I found one and that it was even in the color I wanted!

I get it... other manufacturers don't really consider auto-headlights as a luxury step up whereas Toyota somehow feels people will choose other versions over the limited if all of the 4R's have auto headlights. Not sure what logic that is but it's Toyota logic which means it's illogical.
That being said, are we really so lazy that we would base a vehicle purchase decision over our inability to reach forward with our left hand and turn a switch when we are able to tell that it's time to have the lights on? I mean seriously. Sure the feature is nice...but that in no way should sway your decision.

I personally don't care for the auto lights. I hunt a lot from my vehicle, dawn and dusk are great times to be out. Went on a moose hunt with my brothers taco last season, I asked if he could turn off the running lights... yeah with the park brake on a little... then an annoying beep beep started telling us the park brake was on. PITA. Needless to say I walked and shot a moose. Fine to have the feature but also need a method of disabling it IMHO.

Wait, I was pretty sure that the Pro had heated side mirrors too. I thought they came on when the rear defrost was turned on or something. I could have sworn I've seen the center of the mirrors defrosting last winter. Hmmm.

Yup. You can completely turn off daytime running lights if you want/need.

But it used to irritate me, I finally got used to it.
Sometimes when I have the lights on manually, I just leave them on when parking at night. Hit the lock button and they go out. And they come back on when you start the T4 -- almost like real auto headlights.
except now they'll be on all the time and you'll look like such a noob
. Hate it. Toyota should not have cheesed out on the auto headlight and the memory seats. Now if you guys really want something to talk about - how about rain sensing wipers :uzi:

They do, I'll take a picture at lunch but I'm pretty sure it's in the center console by all the other defrost controls

This thread humors me a little. Auto headlights are one of 2 things I miss from my old Outback (2013 MY). The other being dual climate. I knew the Limiteds came with that, and had I known that I would actually miss those "features", I would've gone Limited.
Really the only reason I care about dual climate is because of my wife. And she likes to remind me that her 2008 Camry has both of those features.

You can have the dealer set the sensitivity if you feel they were going on for you too often.
I haven't taken my keys out of my pocket to start a car in ages. Purchased a 2012 limited and couldn't be happier. I did decide that I loved the trd pro's looks so instead of spending 42k I just converted mine into a trd pro clone. But, I have auto headlights and push to start

Haha agreed. You can have it the way you want it but work is involved.
Just leave headlights/fogs on all the time and they will always be on at night. Thats a bone stock feature on all of trim levels! After 30 sec they turn off automatically after shutting the door and/or doing 1 press door lock from the key fob. 2 presses shuts off HL/fogs immediately lol. Did a 6K HID install on mine today day 2 of ownership = Amazing through factory projectors. Toyota doesnt include zenon or hid HL b/c they dont have too. They make more $ not offering it and leaving it up to end user. Auto HL? like the twilight sentinals from an '83 caddy? Auto HL is old tech been around 35yrs lol....nothing new to ***** about...lol....just leave lights on 24/7 and quit worrying about DRLs
