Automatic trans to manual trans

I have a 90 runner that has 230k miles on it. The trans is starting to give me problems, and is gonna need to be replaced soon. I want to know if anyone has tried to convert an automatic trans to a manual? Or am I better off staying with the auto?

First up what motor do you have, 3vze or 22re?

If you are up to it you can convert it to a manual with relative simplicity. Look on here or yotatech for write ups, there are plenty. I've done it myself, however I never did a write up. One thing that will help you immensely is to get a whole donor vehicle, that's how I did mine. [emoji2]

From what I've seen, a lot of people prefer the manual trans over the auto on some of the classic 4Runners.. lots of people have swapped them. I personally own a manual, and I really enjoy it.
