87 22rte auto trans . my trans oil cooler is routed to my radiator. would it be more efficient to run a separate trans cooler and will it lower my engine temp without cooling the trans oil ? my engine temp is as normal as can be.

Your radiator is 26 years old. If it goes bad the trans cooler section can rupture, and the coolant and trans fluid can mix. Not good for engine or trans. Bypassing it with an external cooler eliminates that possibility, do it !

this was mainly common with 3rd gen runners
my 1st gen runner had its original radiator that started leak externally before any internal leaks between coolant and trans.

but running a separate cooler is a good idea. i been waiting to do it cuz i do get my trans temp pretty hot. im unsure if it will run any cooler tho
