aux lighting question

hey sorry im so late to this thread.

i have 510 driving lights and 520 ion crystal fogs and i love them. also i have 2 10" subs and with all of that running ive never had any power issues whatsoever although im gonna upgrade to and optima blue top soon. heres some pics for ya.
it sounds like you want to go the same route on mounting and such.

haha exactly the same accept i would like 520s on top as well.

so yours is all stock with no problems whatsoever? and how did you mount all the lights?

So how many amps will it put out after you get that done? What exactly do they do to it? Do you know how many amps the stock one is?
 
i believe that the stock runs at 80 (correct me if im wrong) and they bump it up to 140

and i think they wrap thicker coils all on the inside of it, not sure what else though
 
im just wondering if i take it to these guys if they can do it in a day. i dont have a spare car sitting around, and i would need it done pretty quick

Hey. Sorry for digging up an old thread, but this is pretty much exactly the info I was looking for. I just installed a set of 520 plasma ions and a set of 520 driving lights. I honestly doubt I'll be running both sets together that often, but wanted to know if a new alternator and/or battery would be a good idea.

Did you end up beefing up your stock alternator? Results so far? Thanks for any info.

No. They don't draw much power at all. You would get a new alternator for a winch or big amplifiers.

How big an amp are we talking about? I have a Rockford Fosgate P5002 that I had in my Tacoma that I plan on installing into my 4Runner soon. Here are the specs on it:

Thanks again for the help. The electrical stuff definitely isn't my area of expertise.
 
i actually never ended up doing this because i went for efficiency over power with the sound system. it is an amazing system, but only drawing 500 watts. my buddy is running one of the jl HD 900/4 amps and he has no problems at all in his 4runner.

id still like to mount the lights like rdgt4r but i need to finish building my downhill bike first. to many expensive hobbies :ybrick:

Thanks for the info. I think I'm just not going to worry about it unless it becomes an issue for some reason down the road.
