AUX on 2006 JBL not working

Have been driving my 2006 Limited without any issues for the past year. I ususally use my aux port to make hands free phone calls and listen to my ipad. Yesterday the radio would not allow me to switch to the AUX mode. I tried both onthe radio and the steering wheel toggle without success. Is still not working today.

Any ideas of what I need to do?

I don't know what to tell you about how to fix your stereo, but I've got the JBL 6-disc changer I removed from my 2006 sitting in the basement at my mom's house and I'd be happy to ship it to you for a nominal fee; like $20 or something. I'm never going to use it again and it might be easier to just throw a new unit in there as opposed to fixing the one you've got.

Feel free to PM me if you're interested. I live about 2 1/2 hours from there and likely won't be heading that way until Christmas, but it's yours if you want it.

its likely the audio jack thats the problem. if you push up or down on the cable in the jack does it work? there is a signal wire on the audio jack and it has to make contact to allow you to change to the AUX input. same thing would happen if you had nothing plugged into the jack. look online and there are fixes but replacing that jack might be the best way. i just pushed a few coins under my jack in the console and thats my temp fix till i can get a new one put in. and fyi to take the jack out you have to take apart the whole console

Same Problem

I'm having the same problem. JBL nav head unit just quit recognizing aux option. I hit the disc/aux, and it stays on CD. I tried unplugging it in the center console and turning the car on and off, still nothing. Wondering if you came up with a solution.

Anyways there IS a signal wire in there, when I added Bluetooth in line with my aux port I had to deal with this. Try ripping apart the top part of the center console (not too hard, I can get it apart and back again in like 5 mins now lol) and look for the small plug mounted to the passenger side. I think the plug is square shaped? Make sure its firmly seated and then also check the aux port.

My bet is the aux port is broken somewhere and so its not sensing a plug in it. I would just replace it and get a new OEM aux from Toyota. Very easy to replace.

Its likely your Aux port. It should make a connection when you plug in the jack before your can select AUX on the stereo. The contact inside the port is likely loose or broken. Take the port out and open it up. You either need to resolder, get a new port or solder two pins together and now manually select CD or AUX on the stereo.

I just started having the same issue with my aux port. It crackles at times when I plug in my phone and at other times it doesn't recognize the aux when I hit the button. Any idea what the OEM part number would be?

Receiver won't switch to aux

I apologize for reviving this old thread, but I haven't been able to find the answer. My 2007 4Runner receiver won't switch to aux mode. I hit the button, but nothing happens. Did anyone find a solution to this problem? Thanks!
