Availability of roof racks now.

Ive not been active here as much as I have been in the past. Therefor I'm not up to speed on the latest/greatest vendors and new products. So I have a quick question. Is there anyone making a Gobi/Baja style rack that is flat with the expanded metal coverage on bottom that is available to purchase and be shipped out within a few days or a week? I need a rack that has the full coverage on bottom....not the endless crossbar/slats thing. I need to be able to get on top of it and stand/lay down. Is there anything available for purchase that is ready to ship versus the 3-6 month wait that used to be the norm around here?

The short answer to your question is likely "no."

There are a few options that might work (depending on what you want to use the rack for).

A place as simple as amazon has a few options that might work, and are showing in-stock and available to ship.

If those bars are spaced to far you could always bolt down some mesh... I doubt I would order it online (just find a place local) but they could cut you a piece and you could easily bolt it down to a rack like that. Something like this:

NOTHING is going to act like a purpose built Gobi/Baja that is ready to ship. Unless you luck out and find something on Craigslist or pre-owned: you're likely going to have to wait to get the right tool for the job.

I'm looking for something similar - I need something relatively low profile but that would allow me to throw surboards/equipment on the roof. I don't know that I want a big safari style rack up there though.

Yes, full rack you can stand on and have at your house in less then 5 days.

Mount a thule cargo box to the oem rack and lay in it like a coffin. Cargo box is a rock'in don't come knock'in.

Thank you to those that replied with helpful info. I’ve spent countless hours on this forum searching, as well as helping others in the past. I’m well aware of what the search function is. However, I simply wanted to confirm what I was already 95% certain of without spending an hour + reading over other threads staring at a computer screen....yes I wanted a simple answer and I was certain others on here knew....call me lazy for that. Some people actually try to live a life off the Internet when possible.
