Average Miles per TANK/Average Gallons per TANK

About the same here with my 1996 Hilux Surf V6 400 Km a tank. Use gas from Petro Canada --no ethanol

I don't care for the way they run the petro can here, so I use Ultramar. This year is my first year running super through the winter. In previous winters once they crank up the ethanol content for their "winter gas" I've seen mileage drop to 350/tank. At that rate, the super is worth the extra!

I usually switch to 89 octane in the winter here. Gas mileage stays about the same except for the extra engine warm-up time.

89 is what I usually run in the summer since that's what Toyota specs but I still saw a drop even using that. What brand do you buy?

You are right but normally they are always clean.

The sediment builds over time. But again usually the sock is above where it can suck the sediment in anyways. I just dont think its the best idea to run them empty even though I do it all the time. LOL.

Agreed, I dont run it to empty but I fill it up when the light comes on. According to the gas pumps, I have 3 gallons in reserve.

With 90% freeway at 61-62 mph cruise, I managed 21 MPG hand calculated on my 265/75's.

Normal everyday driving with 80% city miles and short trips I average ~17 MPG. Worst tank I've ever gotten was after 40-50 MPG of 4wd playing in the snow/hitting trails, I got 15.8 MPG.

Pretty happy for a truck with 217k miles.

265 75 16's. 3.4 v6. about 200 miles per tank..a little more if I do interstate driving.

gas light comes on around 190 miles so I usually fill up then. About to go up to 285 75's...so I guess it'll only go down. =(

Mine was averaging around 285 miles on a 'tank' but would only put in 14gal. was really great! (mostly highway)... Then I added the blender. And there's just something about putting it to liquify that just sounds so amazing... Now I'm around 230 miles in the same 14 gal. But I've also gone up 2.5" and added some weight. Then bigger tires are next...

I typically use Shell fuel, if none are around it's Ultramar or Esso. I tend to stay away from Petro-Can, but I really don't have a valid reasoning for it.

I stick to Shell for the airmiles, and Ultramar because they're generally a few cents cheaper than everyone else.

At a fill-up and my fuel gauge near empty, I usually get around 14-14.5 gallons of gas in.

With highway driving, I probably average around 280 miles on a tank.

My average mpg on the highway is 19-20 depending on how loaded down I am and whether I'm in the mountains climbing a bunch of hills.

When I have a combination of highway and city driving the mpg goes down to around 16.

I haven't yet driven a whole tank doing city driving, but I imagine if I did, the mpg would be much less than 16.

I have learned in the 2 years I've owned my 2000 4runner that it does not like around town driving. I know all vehicle's mpg will go down with city driving, but it seems pretty bad with our trucks.

On average, I fill-up with 14 gallons with an average of 15.8 MPG. So I usually get 220 miles on the tank. The most gas I have filled up so far was 16.5 gallons, and the gauge was below the E. I had around 15.6 MPG on that tank.

My best MPG since owning my rig was 19.37 which was right after I did my PM (plugs, wires, fluids, etc.). My least was a whoppin' 11.84 MPG after a weekend wheeling trip.

I vary between Chevron and Shell 87 Octane.

Worst I've ever gotten was 14.5 L/100km and the best I've ever gotten was 12.5L/100km. I also only stick to Shell for the air miles. How about that 5x air miles at shell bonus right now? :canada:

pretty much all highway miles impressed my with mileage...

sometimes, when I'm really low on fuel, i've had my tank fill up to 17.5 gallons....

everyone else is reporting 15, 16 gallons.... i wonder why my tank allows for so much gas???

got pretty good mileage this trip though...

14.5 Gallons = 220-235 miles usually, when my 4runner was stock I could get 330-360 miles out of the same 14.5 gallons.

What does the PCV valve do?

WOT=Wide Open Throttle (Mash on the gas for a few seconds on the highway and truck would stall once I'd completely let off the throttle to coast.)

PCV=Positive Crankshaft Ventilation

It is critical that the parts of the PCV system be kept clean and open, otherwise air flow will be insufficient. A plugged or malfunctioning PCV system will eventually damage an engine; contaminants accumulate in the engine oil, and unrelieved crankcase pressure can blow out gaskets and seals, creating oil leaks. A poorly maintained engine's PCV system will eventually become contaminated with oil sludge.

I get about 265 miles per 15 gallons, maybe 65% highway. My 4runner is stock.
