Average price for 15,000 mile service?

Depends on what they did. This sounds about right to me, if they actually do all of the inspection items, but from my reading of the maint manual, I'd prefer to do all of the "inspection" stuff myself anyway.
Unless you tow, you don't really need your diff oil changed.
I plan on spending around $30 and doing it myself. The only things that need replacing are the oil, filter, and possibly the air filter. Grease your drive shaft(s) and retorque the bolts. Then check all of your fluid levels and belts and you should be good. You could also check your brake pads, but they should be fine unless you drive like a nut.
Anyone doing more than that?

Interesting. A couple of weeks ago I took my 04 4Runner in for an oil change and tire rotation at 15,000 miles. When I got to the dealership they had paperwork filled out for a 15k service. The cost estimate was something like $350 and included a lot of inspection stuff, oil change, rotation, and transmission fluid change.
When I saw the transmission fluid change I almost lost it. Toyota doesn't even suggest a transmission fluid change at 15k (I think its at 60k or something). So I guess the bottom line is, stay away from these dealership maintenance packages. Most of the packaged items are visual inspection type stuff any ways.

Mine is a 2005 V8 Sport Galactic Gray and I just had the 15,000 mile service done today and my dealer billed me $150 for the service at Toyota of Garden Grove, CA. I read your post last night and I figured that all Toyota dealership service centers charges were the same everywhere, so I went in prepared to pay what you did, so when I got the $150 quote, I purchased the Sylvania Silverstar Halogens at the service department and they popped them in for me during the service and the total bill came to $213.33. They always do right by me at TOGG, it's 40 miles away, but when I was shopping for my 4Runner, they were horrible at Claremont Toyota and Crown Toyota in Ontario, so I just make the drive out there just to be treated right and I know I'm not imagining it, but my 4Runner runs tight again.

Wow, I think you guys may be getting ripped off a bit. So far I've taken my 4Runner to Toyota for the 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k, and just dropped it off for the 25k service tonight. Everytime it has been $76 and some change. This time it's a little more since I'm getting a front wheel alignment along with the service.
I would read over and triple check everything they're doing. That sounds like way too much money if you ask me.

I skipped the 15K and paid the big bucks for the 30K. Knowing what I know now, I think that was the best decision.
I currently put 20K miles on a year and the 15K was just an oil and filter change for my 4runner. Maybe a rotation of the tires, but thats about it.
At 30K I had all differentials, transfercase, lubed driveshaft, atx and coolant changed. At 36K I changed the plugs, add took the 4runner to the dealer for the fuel injection service.
I'll be changing the front pads at around 50K miles cause there's still 50% material left.

I just had the 15,000 mile service done on my 2005 V8 4Runner. They tried to get me to do their 15,000 mile service package but when I actually looked at the manual on what is supposed to be done I didn't go for it. All that needs to be done for the 15,000 mile service is an oil and filter change, lube the driveshaft (for 4WD) and some inspection items. So go for the 5,000 mile service which includes the inspection items and ask to get the driveshaft lubed (if you have a 4WD). "Chasis Lubrication" was part of of the 5,000 service package so there was no additional charge for the drive shaft. All in all it came out to be $69 plus tax.

Yeah, I picked mine up from the dealer today after the 25k service and an alignment (due to the new shoes) and it only came out to $143 and some change. I did notice on the bill though it said the estimated price was $216 just fro the 25k service? I asked the lady what that was about and she said that is what they are supposed to quote it at 
. I've never been quoted that high for a service at this Toyota so I don't know what that's all about. Maybe all the dealers charge what they want to charge?

Ill be doing the 30K tuneup on my wifes 4runner soon. Its easy and will cost me roughly 40 bucks or so and a couple of hours time and a few beers. That engine is nothing to work on, the only pain is that the dang body is soooo low to the ground, Oh, whoever got thier tranny fluid changed at 15K got screwed!

I just called to set up a 15,000 mile service check and nearly fell out of my chair when they quoted the cost: $229 at Ira Toyota in Danvers, MA.
They said it was because it was a 6 cyclinder and so it required more oil. I couldn't resist asking him how many 4 cyclinder 4Runners he'd seen in the last year.
I'm going to pass on the service. I looked it up in the service booklet and it's all "visual inspection" except for towing needs (lubing the diff and stuff). I don't tow, and I don't drive it hard, so I'm going to save myself roughly $175 dollars by getting a regular oil change.
