Avic D2 install issues

I have been trying to get my Pioneer Avic D2 professionally installed for the last 2 weeks without success. What a pain. "They" initially could not figure out how to work with the JBL amp which wasted the first install day. I purchased an adapter plug from AI (TWH-17) and paid $150 for a custom made mounting bracket..... Now it seems that to get the Avic to work, my stock stereo has to be mounted somewhere in the vehicle and cables going back to wherever.

Does this sound right?! There must be a better way to get this unit to work without 2 bulky head units. I searched many of the posts without any luck. Thanx for any help.

I'd pay some more money to get some external aftermarket amps, redo the speaker wires, and get a new sub.

I have the JBL too and am going to install the Eclipse AVN5435 next weekend.

I have a deal with another T4R.org member to trade my trim pieces with his so I wouldn't have to got do custom pieces.

I was realy hesitant to do anything to my car because I knew the stock 6-disc changer was a pain to upgrade, but I think found out all the little thing I will need to do. All I need to do now is execute. =)

Good luck.
