Avic Z1 Installation - Wiring Harness for JBL Synthesis 10 Speaker System

I recently purchased the Avic-Z1, and scheduled to get it installed. When I got to the install place (Best Buy) they said I needed a special order wiring harness for the JBL System I have. I have searched high and low on the internet and called around, but have not been able to find one. Is there ANY way to install the Avic-Z1 and keep all the stock speakers and stock amp working? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I really hope you find something. I'd like to get this unit, but don't want to tear out everything thats already there.

I work at best buy... and no there is no harness for it. Scosche doesn't carry it and metra doesn't carry it.


What the problem with the amp that you have with the JBL system is that you have to splice the Z1 into it. and alot of installers have trouble with it.

(you usually lose your sub and center channel with the splicing)

The JBL headunit you have has time correction built into the headunit before the amp, also, One side of the truck is 4 ohm's, and the other side is 2 ohms.. which is quite weird....

so you can't just quite tap into the system by just running wiring, the 2 ohm level speakers would make the deck burn out when you crank it up.

Thanks for the response. I guess my next question to you would be: what would be the most inexpensive way to get the Avic-Z1 installed, and still have an average sound system in my 4 Runner? Also, will it even be possible to make an amp integration harness for the JBL system? From what you said in the previous post, it sounds like a very complicated sound system.

The sub would be the reason it is at 2 ohms. It is a dual voice coil. As well, most after market decks already have the built in time correction now so that shouldn't matter if your worried about that.

I think the best solution would be to add a decent 5 channel amp to run you system less the center channel. Your speaker wires would need to be re-run though from the amp which would require some work. It should sound better too as you would more control over the system. ie x-over settings. Has anyone done this. What kind of work does it entail?

Couldn't you just install the new amp in the back of the car so you wouldn't have to run all new speaker wires?
