Avital 4003 Remote Start - Factory Keyfob Lockout

I had an Avital 4003 (and matching PKALL module) installed earlier this year. For those of you that don't know how/what this box does, it allows you to use the factory keyfob to trigger a remote start. In other words, on my 2004 Limited V6 4x4, you hit the unlock 3 times in a few seconds and the truck starts.

It works great with one annoying exception. Once the truck starts, the 4Runners ECU locks out the keyfob from locking or unlocking the vehicle. So if I remote start it, it basically gets left unlocked. Though really not a big deal, I would like to know if anyone has a way around this. I know that using an aftermarket keyless entry/remote start kit would do the trick, but I prefer the factory keyfobs.

I figured maybe there was a trigger under the dash where a remote start could inform the ECU that it should not lockout the keyfobs.

I think that the ecu controls when the door locks are operational or not. If the key is in the ignition I believe it disables the output for the remote door locks. The only way I can think of bypassing this is by using a remote relay (aftermarket keyless entry) system.

Could you wire it so it's lock 3 times instead of unlock? That would solve it being left open, but you'd still have to open it with a key..

hmm. Did you install this or did someone else? If you found the activation wire for the 4003 and switched it over to the lock wire it seems like that would work.

When the vehicle is started or keys in the ignition it disables the factory remote you would have to find a way to disable that
